00:00 The French actress Lea Seydoux, who has also played roles in several major
00:05 Hollywood productions such as Doom Part 2, Mission Impossible, Ghost Protocol and
00:11 James Bond films Spectre and No Time to Die, recently talked candidly about her
00:17 experiences of working in American movies with Harper Bazaar UK. The European
00:23 star elaborated, "The industry in America, I find it harsh on women. It's hard for
00:29 women to age. I don't want to be afraid not to be desirable or to lose my
00:34 contract. In America, it is economic and when it becomes a matter of making money
00:39 you lose your freedom. I don't feel comfortable with the fact that you have
00:43 to tick all the boxes. Being a woman on screen is easier in Europe." However, the
00:49 Dune actress said that she's really satisfied with the parts she has been
00:53 portraying throughout her career in Hollywood till now, saying, "I take what I
00:58 get. I'm not frustrated." She added, "It's tough for someone who's not totally
01:03 American to lead in a Hollywood film." Seydoux previously shared with IndieWire
01:09 that one of the main reasons the actress still looks for roles in Hollywood is
01:13 because she feels that in America people have more imagination. The French artist
01:20 acknowledged during her interview with Harper's Bazaar UK that she has more
01:24 freedom as a European actress because it suits her. "I am not trying to be popular.
01:29 I am just trying to enjoy myself. In America, you have to conform. I don't want
01:35 to adapt myself to the system. I want the system to adapt me." She concluded.
