00:00 The Bureau of Immigration has blocked a Filipino possible victim of the mail-order bride scheme.

00:05 The modus is that a Chinese man will accept a woman to go abroad and work abroad.

00:14 Newlyweds who traveled to Shenzhen, China,

00:19 were introduced to a 20-year-old Filipino and a Chinese man in immigration at IAEA Terminal 3.

00:26 But even though they have a marriage certificate from the Philippine Statistics Authority,

00:30 their answers are doubtful.

00:33 Until the mail-order bride in China was approved by the Philippines.

00:37 She agreed to go abroad to work.

00:40 They are not a couple.

00:43 The victim admitted that they only got the marriage certificate through an agent.

00:50 They paid 45,000 pesos to the agent to process the marriage certificate.

00:57 The Interagency Council Against Trafficking is now in custody

01:00 to arrest the victim and her Chinese partner

01:04 for investigation and to file charges.

01:08 Before this, several other cases of mail-order bride were blocked by the BIA.

01:13 Do not stop these offers because there is a high chance or possibility

01:19 that we will experience trafficking in the country we are going to.

01:24 Meanwhile, the Department of Justice in the NBI is also investigating

01:28 the spread of Philippine documents that are used by the traffickers.

01:33 Aside from travel documents, this is also used for illegal activities.

01:38 If the use of these public documents is rampant,

01:44 there will be mistrust among our agencies that issue valid documents like these.
