00:02 >> When Coach Payne was in here, he said you guys have to go out and fight and
00:06 take it from people, is it?
00:08 Do you feel like you're not fighting or is there more to it than that?
00:11 [BLANK_AUDIO]
00:14 >> I feel like we got there giving good effort, but it has to be better, obviously.
00:19 I just think it's not a more so our effort,
00:23 I just think it's communicating to each other.
00:27 Being in the right spot, attention to detail to the scout,
00:30 what we wanna take away and what we wanna disrupt.
00:33 I thought Roger trying is just about communicating and
00:38 being more locked in and attentive to the details of the game.
00:44 [BLANK_AUDIO]
00:49 >> For either player, Coach Payne has mentioned a couple times
00:54 about how there's a disconnect between what you guys do in practice and
01:00 what goes on during the game or how the messaging isn't getting through.
01:05 From your perspective, what do you think is the cause of maybe that messaging,
01:10 maybe not translating from practice to game?
01:12 [BLANK_AUDIO]
01:16 >> I think it's just we're not applying it for 40 minutes straight, the whole game.
01:21 I mean, we're doing it spurs of the game, but I think we just need to work on it
01:26 the whole game instead of just when we're down.
01:29 [BLANK_AUDIO]
01:35 >> This could be for either of you, Kenny was talking about how there was a point
01:38 early in the first half, Mike was down, he wasn't right.
01:42 He told him to go out and shoot the technical free throws.
01:46 So he's trying to keep him up and
01:49 that led to his strong second half.
01:52 I'm wondering, did you notice him down?
01:55 Just getting down on himself early and
01:57 just what changed as he's able to pick it up in the second half?
02:00 >> I don't think he was down, I think he was a little frustrated.
02:05 Obviously, he works hard and I mean,
02:09 we're at the gym in the morning every day together.
02:12 I see him every day with me, or he's there before me.
02:16 I think he was more so frustrated, not getting foul calls, a shot not going in.
02:20 [BLANK_AUDIO]
02:24 Or he wasn't gonna take what the defense was giving him, and
02:27 then that's what was frustrating him.
02:28 But then we just told him he was good and to take what the defense gave him,
02:33 no matter what, and we'll live with it.
02:36 And he did that in the second half and it was better.
02:38 [BLANK_AUDIO]
02:45 >> You guys had been on a nice roll winning two home games, and
02:50 now it's a five game losing streak.
02:53 Do you have any thoughts on what has changed,
02:56 where the momentum has gone back the other way?
03:00 [BLANK_AUDIO]
03:04 >> It's a really good question.
03:06 I just think each person in our program, or
03:10 really the guys that's playing, just have to do some soul searching.
03:15 It's not on our staff, so it's on us.
03:20 [BLANK_AUDIO]
03:24 >> Brandon, you've been here for the last two years, it's been pretty tough.
03:28 How have you seen Coach Payne grow as a coach?
03:32 What's different about him right now than maybe even when he came in as
03:36 a first time head coach here?
03:37 >> I think he understands a little bit more about what he wants in practice and
03:43 wants in the games and wants from our team and stuff.
03:48 I think coming in last year, he was more so doing it on the fly,
03:52 not really learning the guys like that, or knowing the guys like that as much.
03:56 I feel like he's kinda catered to who his players are.
04:01 You know what I'm saying?
04:04 Just being himself, really, and the guys loving that,
04:07 really just talking to the guys as people, as humans, and
04:14 being more than a coach, so I think that's really it.
04:17 That's where he really stands out for us.
04:19 [BLANK_AUDIO]
04:22 >> Anything else for these two?
04:23 All right, thank you.
