00:00 This has been such a dream run for you, capped off with an amazing Oscar nomination.
00:05 Has it all sunk in for you yet?
00:09 I don't know. No. It's a lot to process.
00:14 But I feel like the thing that is the most grounding and energizing part of all of it
00:23 is to get to stand in this moment and represent so many people who are maybe seeing themselves
00:33 for the first time in a movie like Barbie or at the Academy Awards or at the SAG Awards.
00:40 And this is the awards given by our fellow actors to our peers.
00:46 I know that it looks like one thing from the outside, like this fairy tale thing, but we
00:52 all know, as the majority of us for the majority of our careers are struggling actors, that
01:00 this is a moment in a 22-year career with ups and downs and also with so much joy.
01:08 And I wouldn't change being an actor for anything.
01:11 And how we know that you are a real one, because you are a real one.
01:14 Now you're about to have your directorial debut.
01:17 Oh my gosh!
01:20 Okay, so what is that?
01:22 As opposed to acting in projects, this is going to be you.
01:26 All of you.
01:27 Yes.
01:28 That's slightly terrifying.
01:29 But also so empowering.
01:33 I've made over 100 hours of television and film and I've worked with so many directors
01:38 and I had a feeling that I was ready to make the leap.
01:42 And I started directing on Superstore and in Hentafied, both shows that I executive
01:47 produced.
01:48 And I just loved it.
01:49 And you know what?
01:50 Some of my favorite directors I've ever worked with have been actors turned directors.
01:55 They understand performance and they understand protecting a space so something can be new
02:02 and discovered.
02:04 They understand it so well.
02:06 That's what Greta is, right?
02:08 And I love working with actors.
02:10 So I think my 22 years as an actress have prepared me beautifully for directing my first
02:17 feature.
02:18 Which you can't do.
02:19 So yeah, girl.
02:20 You know me just fine.
02:21 But I wonder because I know Eva is your good friend and she's done just that.
02:25 So do you sit down with her and talk about it?
02:27 Oh yeah.
02:28 I mean I have and I will continue to download.
02:32 And basically any director that I know, I will ask them to sit with me and give me the
02:38 scoop.
02:39 And the beautiful thing about most directors is most directors love what they do.
02:43 And they just want to talk about it all day.
02:45 So I will pick anyone's brain who will sit down and talk to me about their lessons learned
02:51 because that's all it is, right?
02:53 You try and you learn and you try again.
02:56 I'm so excited because I never get to talk to Michelle always.
03:00 Hogs you, Hannah.
03:01 I do.
03:02 I love Hannah.
03:03 Now Kevin gets to talk to Hannah.
03:04 Can I tell you that Hannah helped me out of and back into my dress at the Golden Globes?
03:08 I did say to you as the cubicle door was open I was like, "Do you want me to stay here and
03:13 do you back up?"
03:14 And I was like, "I'll wait for you and zip you back up."
03:16 That's amazing.
03:17 I told Hannah I'm going to take her out on a date because she's so fine.
03:23 I'm going to take her out on a date.
03:26 You, Kevin, congratulations.
03:28 Have a great night tonight.
03:29 We will see you at the Academy Awards.
03:31 Yes, indeed.
03:32 Yes, indeed.
03:32 Yes, indeed.
03:33 Yes, indeed.
