Oswaldtwistle was recently named the happiest and most desirable place to live in the county of Lancashire.

I decided to see why this was the case as well as speak to local residents on their favourite things about the town.

00:10 Lancashire. I went to see why it had been named this as well as speak to locals
00:14 about their favourite things about the town. So I jumped on the next available
00:20 train to Osselt Whistle which took no time at all and once there I was met with
00:24 beautiful parks and beautiful buildings so I wanted to get a grasp of what
00:30 residents really thought of living in Osselt Whistle after it was named the
00:33 happiest place to live in Lancashire.
00:37 Yeah, I kind of agree. I think Lancashire is one of the most happy, well known, friendly, happy, livable place.
00:50 Yeah, a lot of people have said their favourite thing is kind of the sense of community.
00:53 Would you agree? Yes.
00:55 Where are your favourite places in and around Osselt Whistle to visit or things to do?
01:01 I'd go to church, the church, the park, Widdens Park, and just have a wander round.
01:13 Would you recommend anyone who might be thinking about it or maybe move here?
01:19 Yeah, yeah, because there's lots to do. I mean, Osselt Whistle Mills, Denmouth, Northern and everything.
01:25 That's interesting to walk around and spend time in. You can just go and wander around.
01:30 But yeah, there's more here than there is in a lot of places in Highmoon.
01:35 Well, that pleases me very much really. I've lived in Osselt Whistle since my early 20s
01:42 and I always think it's a great place to get to other places and I do like how the shops are coming on.
01:51 There's some nice individual shops.
01:54 And what was your favourite thing about Osselt Whistle? Is it kind of a sense of community or something else?
01:59 I do like the sense of community, yes. I do like Osselt Whistle Mills. That's a favourite place to go.
02:08 The people seem very friendly. Yeah, I like Osselt Whistle. Lots of lovely walks to go on.
02:17 So it's good for your mental health and well-being. People are very friendly. Lots to do, yeah.
02:23 A lot of people have mentioned the sense of community as one of their favourite things. Would you tend to agree?
02:27 Yeah, definitely. And all the shops and everything. You can get what you need around here.
02:32 Where is your favourite place exactly or thing to do in Osselt Whistle?
02:36 I like walking, so I'll walk to Jack House Reservoir and Fox Hills.
02:42 If someone was thinking about moving to Osselt Whistle, would you recommend it?
02:45 Oh yeah, yes I would. I was thinking of moving but I only wanted to move in Osselt Whistle.
02:54 A lot of people have kind of mentioned the community aspect and everyone's really friendly. Would you say that's kind of one of your favourite things?
03:00 Yeah. In terms of things and places to do in Osselt Whistle, what would you say is your favourite?
03:07 I like going around Fox Hill Bank, which is a nature reserve.
03:12 Yeah, a lot of people have said the nature as well as the walks. Would you say that's the main selling point of around here?
03:19 Yeah. If someone was thinking about moving to Osselt Whistle, would you recommend it?

03:23 And what's it like running a business in Osselt Whistle?
03:26 It's nice. Everyone's really friendly. People come in and they end up chatting.
03:33 You have your regulars that you get on with and you've built a sense of community around that.
