00:00 Hi, it's Richard from the Yorkshire Post Features team here to have a look ahead to what's going on week commencing February 26th.
00:07 Every March as the days got longer, drier and warmer Sheffield hosts the Festival of the Outdoors.
00:12 Known as the Outdoor City, Sheffield is proud of its green spaces and proximity to the Peak District, which makes it ideal to bring together a wide variety of events.
00:20 Starting from March 1st you'll find everything from large scale international sporting events to small community gatherings.
00:26 From guided walks to some of the world's hardest bouldering problems, from outdoor markets to film festivals.
00:32 One of the first events to kick off the festival is the reframing mountain bike symposium which takes place March 1st and 2nd.
00:39 The event aims to collectively address how to progress mountain biking in the UK, past some of the challenges that currently exist and make the sport a better, safer and more sustainable and more fun space for all.
00:49 If you love video games, then Don Castledome is the place to go as the first major international tour and exhibition to explore the vibrant history and culture of video games is there all week.
00:58 Focusing on key game developments between 1962 and the present day, Game On takes a global perspective at gaming's fascinating past and limitless future.
01:06 From the colossal mainframes of the early 60s to the latest releases, it examines the creative and scientific advances that have revolutionised the games we play.
01:14 The exhibition features more than 150 playable arcade, console and handheld games and includes iconic ones such as Space Invader, Sonic the Hedgehog and Rock Band.
01:23 And finally on Sunday March 3rd is a day of reflection for pandemic victims.
01:27 It's the fourth day of reflection with the first to take place on a date recommended by the UK Commission on Covid Commemoration.
01:33 In its final report we said the day should be held annually on the first Sunday of March.
01:37 It's been organised by the charity Marie Curie with government backing and events are taking place across the country with walls of reflection open to the public, Marie Curie shops in Darley Street, Bradford and Market Square in Shipley.
