00:00 A 48-year-old woman suffered complications, including breast lumps and pain, 20 years
00:08 after undergoing a silicone injection breast augmentation.
00:12 The sales consultant, identified only as Chan, said she had undergone the procedure recommended
00:17 by a beautician.
00:18 "I went to the beauty salon, washed my face and applied the cream.
00:24 The beauty salon told me that the cream would help me improve my body shape.
00:36 The beauty salon didn't tell me it was silicone.
00:38 They told me it was a non-harmful product that could be applied to the breast.
00:44 It was an injection.
00:45 The injection process was very painful."
00:48 Less than five years after the procedure, Chan started noticing lumps on her breast
00:53 and pain soon followed.
00:55 "I had undergone breast augmentation, but the results were negative.
01:02 I thought, 'Why is it that I can feel something on my hand, but it's safe?'
01:09 But in the end, I felt the lump slowly solidify and become bigger.
01:15 So I went to the hospital for MRI and the results were negative.
01:22 My cells are healthy.
01:25 The unhealthy part is the lump.
01:28 It has already been combined with my flesh."
01:34 She added that her plastic surgeons advised her to either remove her breasts or live with
01:38 the condition for the rest of her life.
01:41 Unhappy with these options, she opted for surgery in Vietnam in January this year to
01:46 remove the silicone.
01:48 "I was very lucky to find this method.
01:51 I found the right time and the right doctor to do this.
01:57 Thankfully, it was all resolved.
01:59 I want to call on more victims to not ignore this issue and to get tested.
02:08 Don't try to do these irregular treatments."
02:17 MCA Public Services and Complaints Department head Datuk Seri Michael Chong advised that
02:22 beauty procedures or surgeries conducted by unlicensed individuals are often detrimental
02:27 to health.
02:29 He urged those who wish to undergo aesthetic procedures to always consult with reputable
02:33 doctors and specialists.
02:38 "I'm not going to be a doctor.
02:39 I'm not going to be a surgeon.
