00:00 Obey my instructions at all times. When I say break or stop you will stop punching,
00:04 you take a step backwards. In the event of a knockdown, neutral corner I point you to,
00:08 you stay there till I tell you to come out or I'll stop the count. You understand me?
00:12 Touch them up. Let's get into it. So to start off, two big men, two previously elite amateurs
00:21 and two relative rookies in the pro ranks ready to go at heavyweight here on Fox Sports this evening.
00:28 So we have Linds in blue trunks coming out of the blue corner. Brach in red from the red and
00:39 they meet at center ring. Ben's aiming at commentary alongside the great Jeff Fedeck
00:43 and also Olympic medalist Harry Garside and Jeff a very intriguing one to get us started here.
00:50 Yeah definitely so Ben but looking at the body of the Lind for a 40 year old,
00:53 looks like he's been working hard. They both look like they're in good condition but for 40
00:58 he's looking great. He just moves backwards now as Lind tries to get his long jab away to the body.
01:05 Both of them have had really interesting stories in the time that they've got away from boxing.
01:11 As they do a bit of work here on the ropes and a nice little left hand that got turned
01:18 right there from Grach as well. Yeah Grach is showing great skill but good power as well,
01:23 a lot of power in both hands. There's a cut as well now for Grach straight over his left eye.
01:28 He won't like that on pro taboo in the opening round. It's a cut that's providing plenty of
01:33 blood as well. Not sure where it came from but they came together over those ropes and
01:39 there's a right hand from Grach that gets through onto Lind who's happy to hang on.
01:43 Last thing he would have wanted in the early stages of his debut. Yeah definitely so it doesn't look
01:50 too bad but like I said this is an interesting fight. Both guys are really showing some skills
01:55 in different areas. Grach his boxing skills and Lind is also showing a beautiful jab and using
02:04 his height but I think the power of Grach at the moment is a telling point. He got a right drive
02:11 through to the body onto Lind there. Did Grach and Lind just weary of that power as he wheels
02:17 around to his right now. Blood coursing down the face of Grach and Lind's just watchful.
02:26 Waiting to bring him on to that shot. Turns around a left hand as well and a nice little
02:34 moment there from Johan Lind. Yeah some nice right hands there, some nice balks and counters
02:39 there and feinting. Strong body shots too from Lind. Went right hand and left hand as well and
02:46 the blood just continues to pour from that cut over the eye of Brandon Grach.
02:51 To the body of Lind again does Grach. Slowed down a touch though in the back half of this
03:03 round and Johan Lind just working his way into his second professional fight. Yeah he's certainly
03:10 getting busier as the fight goes on is Lind. Good shots from Grach, Lind holds on well and
03:18 punches with his free hands. Plenty of power on the shots of Grach. 121 kilograms of him.
03:26 It's been a pretty eventful opening rounds of this heavyweight fight to get it started.
03:38 Harry Garside what did you see between the heavyweights? I think Grach come out with
03:42 heaps of intent in that first minute and then after he got cut you could see him almost
03:46 hesitating, didn't want to make it any worse and you can definitely tell that he wants
03:49 to be fighting nice and close but that cut looks pretty dangerous. Not in a good spot,
03:55 this is the corner and the doctor's going to have a little look. Nathan's squabbling
04:05 the trainer. So what we're doing is we're coming in with ones and twos, he's moving
04:10 around, we knew he was going to move around, you need to use your feints a little bit more
04:14 okay and try and get those gloves on. So set up the second attacks, maybe feint the first
04:19 one coming in so that we can get some gloves on this guy okay. And this is where it came
04:24 from, a clash of heads with them over the ropes and tangling for a moment. Just connecting
04:36 with that spot on Grach and they've stopped the bleeding for now as they head back to
04:42 centre ring. Let's see if Grach can take the instruction because he needs to air, he needs
04:47 to ball, he needs to throw more punches. He stepped in there with the right hand but just
04:53 crowded his work for a moment to Grach. Grach's got a beautiful kit of punches, really mixing
05:01 it up to the body, to the head. Nice and powerful as well Jeff isn't he? Yeah definitely, so
05:06 that's what I liked about him earlier, he was working the body as well as the head which
05:10 is really important. Yeah and when he's on the attack he looks really dangerous but obviously
05:15 he's got a very experienced guy in the other corner and yeah he's got that height, that
05:19 length on him and he's using that will at the moment, just staying out of range. Plenty
05:24 of power on that left hand from Grach as he got towards Johan Lind there for a moment
05:28 but Lind keeps him away with a long jab. Just turns him around as Grach tried to find the
05:37 right hands. Oh, counter shot from Grach is a good one. Yeah that jab of Lind's just pouring
05:45 it out, he's not even using it as a jab. There's another right hand from Grach. Get your hands
05:51 free, punch it out of there. Got through onto Johan Lind. Come on hands free, punch. He
05:56 goes to the body as well. Lind needs to use the jab to stop him, not just pouring it out
06:01 because Grach is coming over the top of him, here he comes again. Yeah he got through too
06:05 with that right hand, you can see the swelling that's now over the left eye of Lind, it was
06:11 all from that big right hand, it was a good shot as he goes to the body too, does Grach.
06:15 Get that hood into the body then Harry. They're big boys aren't they, nice and strong Grach.
06:21 He's really careful here. Oh big shots. Right hand from Grach again, the heads came together
06:28 for a moment. Watch your heads in there both of you. Wouldn't mind seeing Lind measuring
06:35 a bit more with the jab and shooting that big right hand out. Well he has to do something
06:41 to stop it, he can't just pull that jab out, he has to put something behind the jab. Oh
06:45 he can't be taking those shots. The right hand of Grach has got to work here in the
06:51 second round. Lind came back on the inside, nice little short right hand and he goes to
06:57 the body but Grach was awake to it and there goes Grach with one and two. Body shot from
07:03 Lind, right hand from Grach. Good action between the heavyweights in round two. Yeah that second
07:09 right hand from Grach just missed. Sitting down on a shot is Lind. Well that's what he
07:16 has to do but he needs to get some respect at the moment. Grach is trying to walk through
07:22 him, being an overhand right hand player. Well here he goes, shakes the head does Lind.
07:29 Both hands were exchanged but both just whizzed by. There's a good shot from Lind and Grach
07:34 tries to find another. Step back. There was a beautiful right to the body by Lind there
07:39 too. And it was a much better round for Brandon Grach, his second as a pro, did really well
07:44 finding some power shots onto Johan Lind who needs to come up with some answers as we get
07:50 into his corner for just a moment. No no no, hey hey, I want you to think about everything
07:58 that's got us here to this point. We knew this is exactly what it was going to be, okay,
08:03 and it is what it is and we're ready for that. Now you just won that round, this bloke doesn't
08:06 want the pressure, okay, he wants to stay on the outside and keep twisting and turning
08:10 you. The single shots, he's banking his whole game on that. We need to be setting up the
08:15 third shots, okay, so I want your feet to take you in and I want to see three punch
08:18 combinations, right? Threes and fours. Don't worry about the huge knockout punch, let's
08:23 just start getting our gloves on with threes, okay? Cross hook cross, jab jab cross. Some
08:28 funny words there, I thought Grach was putting the pressure on and you know, he's definitely
08:34 not doing what the trainer says, I'm not sure what fighter he's watching or what fighter
08:38 I'm watching at the moment, but certainly he gave him some instructions but they certainly
08:42 weren't right. Grach is definitely putting the pressure on, definitely trying to cut
08:47 the ring off, definitely trying to hit him with every punch he can. It's great to see
08:52 as well, that cut holding up, the last thing you want to see is that cut get any worse.
08:58 Definitely so big lift hook just missed there by Grach. Jab to the body from Grach, he looks
09:05 for that right hand and he goes to the body as well and they just throw everything to
09:10 the shots as they come back towards. One on the inside from Linz. Hands free, punch out.
09:16 Oh, nice body shot. And beautiful shot there from Grach and Linz came back with a left
09:25 hand over the top as well. Jeez, there's plenty on these shots from Brandon Grach. What a
09:32 great opening bout this is, two guys are really trying to show who's the superior out there.
09:38 Both boys are experienced, they're showing some great killer punches, showing some great
09:42 movement. Lots of credit to both of them for being willing to fight each other because
09:47 they will have known plenty about each other from different generations of the amateurs,
09:51 both star amateur boxers and now relatively new in their pro careers, they've gone in
09:56 against each other and we're seeing the results here, a very intriguing fight. These both
10:02 guys will be a challenge to any heavyweight in this country, they're both showing extreme
10:07 skill and great levels. Oh, big right hand from Linz but Grach just absorbed it and he
10:17 goes to the body, digs in with power as Grach. Oh, that's a beautiful body shot too from
10:25 Grach, that left to the body. Linz is happy to hang on for now but he doesn't want too
10:34 many of those. I'm not sure Grach really noticed that he hurt him as bad as he did, the both
10:40 hands just dropped to the side. He's protecting the body a little bit isn't he? I would be
10:46 too. Reaches out to the body. When you protect the body that's what happens, you get hit
10:52 in the head. Don't hold. Rips in again, that left hand this time and there's another and
11:01 over the top goes Grach. Break! Jesus could it be watching Harry? Grach hasn't lost an
11:09 ounce of power or an ounce of speed since day dot which is great to see. Oh, body shot
11:18 from Grach. Took it well. Linz wore that very well. Oh, I can't believe that he wore that
11:23 one Ben. Oh and he gets through with shots of his own. Johan Linz showing his toughness
11:27 and turning a right hand around. I tell you what, these both guys are showing enormous
11:32 potential. That was a really good right hand from Linz on the inside that opened up that
11:39 cut. The body shots came back from Grach but jeez, this is all out of salt from Brandon
11:47 Grach and Linz is having moments of his own as we get back into the Grach corner. Isn't
11:52 it good to see heavyweights that are so skilful, they're looking for opportunities, drop it
11:56 to the side, leaning body shots. I fear the weight, I'd be proud to lean. I want you to
12:00 think about the things you need to think about now. Last round, come centre rig, touch gloves.
12:04 I want you to think about the things you need to. You girls are watching on television,
12:08 okay? It's not for the first 30 seconds, it's for the next 3 minutes. Rodeo, go out and
12:12 prove what you can do. Now listen, this bloke don't want to be in there anymore and you
12:16 know that, okay? So stop thinking about how you feel and start enforcing some pressure
12:20 onto him, alright? I want you to stand up now. Inspirational words from Nathan Swadling.
12:26 Ari, what are we going to see in this final round? I think a big 4th round coming from
12:31 Grach. As you heard in the corner, he's got young girls at home, they'll be watching.
12:35 He's doing it for them. Well they'll be proud of what they've seen so far from Dad on Pro
12:40 to Boo who has shown that he can go with just about every single heavyweight in the country,
12:47 even at this stage. He's shown enormous skill, body work, head work. I'm so impressed with
12:52 this guy. I'm impressed with both but... Oh jeez, big shots. Another body shot. Lin's
12:59 showing his toughness and standing up and now he turns and tries to throw his own. Step
13:03 back. Thank you. How about the heavyweight division in this country? Oh wow. Monstrous
13:13 right hands from the both of them. Just missed their target. Reaching out his Grach. Lin's,
13:23 he doesn't want any more of those rips to the body. And he's being told to go side to
13:30 side here is Lin's as he gets a shot through and takes another. Come on boys, hands free.
13:36 Hands free and punch out. Two minutes left to this fight. A little bit of head movement
13:47 from Grach who tries to get him to throw that right drive to the body. Blood running down
13:52 the face of Grach as it has been through the majority. Right hand Lin's and a left hand
13:57 from Grach. Step back. You come here tonight looking at names you don't even know and look
14:05 what they do. What an impression these guys are putting on the sport today. The heavyweight
14:09 division is in great shape at the moment. Ripping in his Grach. Lin's over the top and
14:20 he had to consider that both of these men were in the No Man's Land not so long ago
14:25 as they trade again against the Robes. Right hand, left hook, they both landed flush and
14:31 he's still standing up. Great shots here. Feet body shots and over the top as well.
14:42 These two trading and going toe to toe as they had throughout this fight. An outstanding
14:49 heavyweight battle in its final minute. What do they have left for us? A big shot from
14:55 Lin's. Left hand from Lin got through. And a counter left hook from Grach. He comes back
15:01 with a right hand as well does Grach. Grach for the first time just showing a little fatigue
15:09 but geez he's still got his power. Lin trying to get his hands clear to throw as Grach just
15:20 rocks onto his heels for a moment. The corner of Lin calling for some urgency. They see
15:28 his opportunity now as Grach reaches out to the body. Lin tries to work. One and two he
15:34 goes. Grach breathes deeply. He goes back to Lin's. And these two will finish an outstanding
15:44 four round heavyweight battle on their feet. What a fight. Brilliant stuff from two professional
15:54 rookies essentially who had been outstanding amateurs and who put on a show here tonight.
16:01 Boy have they set the standard for what tonight's going to be like. Yeah that's for sure. I
16:05 mean the other two heavyweights up there I'm hoping they weren't meshing with them at the
16:09 moment after watching that. Just a really entertaining and a high quality fight as well.
16:19 And I mentioned that these two were living very different lives not so long ago. That
16:25 man Johan Lin, well he was the economic advisor to Dominic Perrette's former government here
16:32 in New South Wales. That's what he was doing when he walked away from boxing. On the other
16:37 side of the ring we've got Brandon Grach. Now he was a ringer out in the middle of country
16:43 New South Wales and Queensland. He was out riding horses. I'm not sure Lin's going to
16:48 be able to keep that job getting hit on the head like that two or three more times that's
16:51 for sure. Well it just shows that they've got many strings to their bow but Harry you
16:57 should take us through the highlights of what we've just seen and tell us how much everyone
17:02 here enjoyed it. You can tell there's a lot of talent out there as well. It was a great
17:06 four round fight and what I love to see is Johan Lin really biting down on the mouthguard
17:11 in that fourth round. He really put it on the line and I think that was his best round.
17:14 It was good to see. I don't know if he done enough in the first three but in that last
17:19 round he definitely showed some ticker. I don't like saying it but if they gave this
17:22 fight a jaw slap I'm not going to argue. It was a great fight but I'm tipping slightly
17:28 towards the red corner. I thought that he landed the bigger and better shots. To be
17:32 honest the skill level for this guy to be able to, well not Lin but for Amgrash to be
17:38 able to go to the body the way he did on Lin, these body shots, I love it. That's professional
17:43 boxing. Yeah that was a really really entertaining fight. We await these scores but after the
17:49 break we'll have some really big news here on Fox Sports about the upcoming Tim Zubi
17:53 Brian Mendoza fight so stick with us for that because that's coming up straight after the
17:59 break which will follow the scores in this heavyweight contest and for us it is Lieutenant
18:04 Dan Hennessy who's about to read them out.
18:07 Ladies and gentlemen can we please have a round of applause for that first fight of
18:11 the night. Awesome. After four rounds of professional heavyweight boxing action we go to the judges
18:21 score cards for a decision. Judge Charlie Lucas scores the competition 38-38 draw.
18:30 George Fowlkes scores the competition 37-39 and Dean Cambridge 37-39 for your winner by
18:37 majority decision fighting out of the red corner Brandon "The Bull" Gratz.
18:49 So a great heavyweight battle to get this big night of boxing underway and there is
18:53 still plenty more to come but after the break as Ben mentioned some big news in relation
18:57 to Tim Zubi's world title fight. We'll be back right after this.
