Sunderland BID's Victoria Scarisbrick and artists Dale Hardy and Su Devine discuss the launch of the Sunderland Arts and Culture Trail.
Transcript
00:00 Okay, let me just tell you about the Arts Trail which has come to Sunderland Place.
00:04 Right, Sunderland Arts and Culture Trail 2024 is bringing together local businesses with local artists and cultural and heritage venues in a self-guided walk and tour of the city centre and surrounding areas.
00:20 And what sort of art is going to be on display?
00:22 We're going to have sculpture, we're going to have performance, we're going to have paintings, sketches, anything that you can consider to be artistic practice.
00:32 What's going to be the benefits both for the businesses involved and also the artists?
00:36 The benefits are that the businesses will get footfall around the town and the benefit for the artist is getting their art seen to a wider audience.
00:46 And the benefit for the people that are coming around is having a great walking trail, it's easy accessible and they get to see some fantastic art.
00:56 And I understand the BID's going to be involved in this process as well?
00:59 Yes, we're supporting the Sunderland Arts and Culture Trail because it's a great thing that's happening in the city centre and it's a great way to connect the businesses that we work with and support to the artists and their community.
