00:00 Well, an interesting penultimate to the policy day, because we were coming off a day which
00:06 was trending and ended the day's high, which is yesterday.
00:09 We didn't have that kind of a day today, but the Nifty 50 flat, as flat can be, obviously
00:16 for the Sensex the same.
00:18 Nifty Bank, about a quarter of a percent higher, because Nifty IT was not doing well today
00:23 much.
00:24 Yesterday, Nifty IT kind of sult in trade, about 1.25 percent lower.
00:30 Mid caps and small caps, they had a really good start.
00:32 The close wasn't the strongest, but index-wide, about 0.75 percent higher for the mid cap
00:38 index is not bad, and half a percent for the small cap 250, not bad either.
00:42 In fact, it was a day of 20 percent, and I'll get to that in a moment.
00:46 First let me get the heat map for the large caps, and you will see that banks and financials
00:51 didn't have a bad day, from Bajaj Finance to an Axis Bank to HDFC Life to SBI being
00:56 the key mover today, 3.84 percent, and a lot of other smaller banks also did well.
01:02 What didn't do well is IT, the top losers.
01:08 Tech Mahindra in forces, there is TCS, there was also Wipro, about 0.8 percent.
01:14 Some weakness in Power Grid, yet again, two days on a trot now, it's ending as the worst
01:18 performer, so there's some weakness there, but IT didn't have a great day today, so that
01:22 was the other problem.
01:23 The thing to note though today, that at the broader end of the spectrum, there were a
01:27 lot of stocks which were very, very active on a large volume, so I call them 20 percenters
01:33 as a day, because if you look at the Nifty 500 gainers, you will see that a lot of these
01:37 had some stupendous moves, IOB 20 percent, EIH 20 percent, Trent about 19.48 percent,
01:46 and some of these on results, both Trent as well as EIH were on results.
01:50 There was some strength, of course, for some other result boys as well, and in terms of
01:56 weakness, you probably, so Yes Bank, UCO, Central Bank, etc., so banking space was very
02:01 active, and mind you, just before we wrap up, the PSU banks were very active, so those
02:05 have to be kept in mind.
02:06 But all in all, not a bad pre-policy day.
