Transcript
00:00 the- the- hey browns fans
00:16 welcome back with another
00:18 edition of brownie breakdowns
00:20 Anthony and I have been
00:21 chomping at the bit to get back
00:23 to it we haven't had games now
00:25 in what two three week I've
00:27 lost track I've lost all track
00:28 of the season so we are back
00:30 with a special edition of the
00:31 podcast breaking down the top
00:34 ten plays of twenty twenty
00:35 three Anthony I'm glad I'm glad
00:36 to be back behind the
00:37 microphone on the screen here
00:38 with the I'm looking forward to
00:40 see what we can put together
00:41 here for a top ten please yeah
00:42 it's awesome to be back on and
00:44 it's it's such a bummer that
00:45 the season ends that last game
00:47 happens and then everything
00:48 just stops and it's just that's
00:49 that's that's the nature of the
00:51 beast man that's the worst part
00:52 about NFL teams is we're gonna
00:54 look at next year's team it's
00:55 gonna be nothing the same and
00:57 we're gonna look at the
00:59 season from last year's team to
01:00 next year's and you know that's
01:02 the beauty of it but going back
01:03 through it and watching some of
01:05 the games and and just kind of
01:07 reliving some of the fun times
01:09 that we had this season was was
01:10 a blast and I think we got a
01:11 great list to to share with our
01:14 fans here yeah I I you know we
01:16 could go and break down Ravens
01:18 Chiefs if people wanted to but I
01:19 think people are sick of the
01:20 Chiefs so we're gonna stick to
01:21 the Browns we're gonna have
01:22 some fun with this we've put
01:24 together a definitive list
01:26 Anthony and I kind of went
01:27 through this and reflected on
01:28 some of the the top plays and
01:30 top moments and listen I want
01:31 to be clear this was not an
01:33 easy process because there are
01:35 a lot of memorable moments and
01:36 especially in a season that the
01:38 Browns really were just
01:39 resilient in general with all
01:41 the injuries and all these
01:42 different things there are a
01:43 ton of moments that I wish we
01:45 could have included you know
01:47 Jerome Ford had a couple nice
01:48 really big plays the the long
01:50 touchdown run against the Colts
01:51 I'll tell you right now like
01:52 that one's not in there like
01:53 there's just some that when we
01:54 got to the chopping block the
01:55 table we were like we got to
01:56 get rid of this one we just
01:57 didn't have enough room we
01:58 didn't have enough time we
01:59 don't want to spend too long
02:00 doing this with you so this is
02:02 our list I think it mimics to
02:04 an extent some of the plays
02:05 that the Browns had is their
02:07 top ten that they released a
02:08 couple weeks ago- actually
02:10 they released earlier this
02:11 week but I'm excited to kind of
02:13 go one by one here and take us
02:15 through do we have an honorable
02:17 mention by the way we didn't do
02:19 the honorable mention okay
02:20 there's too many to watch me
02:22 happen. Back through it and we
02:24 even picked up I was thinking
02:25 through this we picked up-
02:27 coverage on Browns digest-
02:29 would have been after the bye
02:30 week so Colts yeah yeah we are
02:32 against the Colts was our first
02:34 time was our first game. For
02:36 forty niners or the first game
02:39 yeah yeah so right after the by
02:41 we took over coverage of Browns
02:42 digest and you know. Going back
02:45 through and watching games like
02:46 we could have had five or you
02:47 know four or five clips from
02:48 the Bengals game in week one
02:49 and a couple week to you know
02:51 it's like Hey there's so many-
02:53 so many great moments from this
02:55 season. And that was one take
02:57 away I had the other was when
02:58 this team is at full strength
03:00 holy cow I was watching. The
03:02 Bengals game in week one like
03:03 watching Nick Chubb run is is
03:05 watching like a different
03:06 different sport than what we
03:08 were now used to not that
03:09 Jerome Ford had a bad year by
03:11 any means or- he still had some
03:12 electrifying plays but it's
03:13 like holy cow you get him in
03:14 there. You get up to the team
03:16 that was built to- you know
03:18 that was built this year you
03:19 know the injuries were just so
03:20 insane and it was just wild to
03:22 watch. Where the team was at
03:24 and then as we kind of click
03:25 through all the entire season.
03:26 Yeah kind of where they ended
03:27 up. It's unfortunate we didn't
03:29 get Nick Chubb around long
03:30 enough to have him featured in
03:31 this segment but I'm sure
03:33 assuming he's back with the
03:34 Browns next year that is the
03:35 topic conversation I guess but
03:36 assuming he's back with the
03:37 Browns- we should have more for
03:40 you next year- in terms of the
03:42 Nick Chubb highlights let's-
03:44 let's wait let's not waste any
03:45 more time. Let's start this
03:46 list I will tell you the first
03:49 entry on the Browns digest top
03:52 ten here. Is from week ten and
03:55 you're gonna get a common theme
03:56 and I think it's rightfully so
03:58 like when you think about the
03:59 Browns season. I think one of
04:01 the definitive games people are
04:02 going to go back to and think
04:03 about. Is this game right here
04:05 so we have sort of highlighted
04:07 that. With a number of entries
04:09 from this game that you're
04:10 going to see in this top ten
04:11 list but this was this was
04:12 number ten on our list. Yes is
04:14 a good place to start it and
04:15 like set the scene for this-
04:17 you know this is week ten the
04:18 Browns are kind of. You know
04:20 trying to work their way up
04:21 against the- the- the- the
04:22 Browns. You know trying to work
04:23 their way into it remember the
04:24 start of this game was just
04:25 brutal we started with the Kyle
04:27 Hamilton pick six and- you know
04:28 as the year went along that
04:30 proved he proved to be one of
04:31 the best players. You know in
04:33 all the NFL- and he's a freaky
04:35 guy and- you know this game got
04:36 off to a horrible start and
04:37 then the Browns is kind of
04:38 chipped away. And chipped away
04:40 and chipped away and we go here
04:41 to- to our tenth play- on our
04:44 top ten was- the shot. With a
04:46 massive scramble and this is
04:48 when. You know before we knew
04:49 about the broken shoulder this
04:50 is when we started to turn the
04:52 corner like oh gosh if we can
04:53 get this. You know we have a
04:55 chance but- here come the here
04:57 come the Ravens this is late in
04:58 the fourth quarter member this
04:59 the final drive of the game- and
05:01 I believe this is either second
05:02 or third down. But there's some
05:05 there's a there's some pressure
05:06 off the top left side or the
05:07 top right side. And I remember
05:09 just talking to you about this
05:10 right when it happened like
05:11 this is vintage to Sean Watson
05:13 yeah. It's something breaks
05:15 down you know you don't throw
05:17 hot maybe this was his
05:18 responsibility probably should
05:20 have been a little bit more
05:21 aggressive. You know maybe
05:22 something up here but- when
05:24 you're so athletic and you're
05:25 just that elite kind of a guy.
05:27 You make something happen out of
05:28 nothing and here you are.
05:30 Getting fifteen yards- I am
05:32 getting most importantly get
05:34 in the field goal range- with a
05:35 chance. To beat the Baltimore
05:37 Ravens who are the best team in
05:39 the AFC at that point. I think
05:40 another reason it was important
05:42 put this play in. Is because as
05:45 everyone obviously has this love
05:46 affair with Joe Flacco rightfully
05:47 so- we can't forget the job that
05:50 he did in the season in the
05:51 browns getting to where they
05:52 were he was. Flacco was for one
05:54 technically to show us five one
05:55 in games you started with that
05:56 Colts game kind of weird he
05:58 didn't really play that much. So
05:59 really he was for one. And this
06:01 was by far like the game that
06:03 defined his season. And this
06:04 play right here kind of define.
06:06 I think it was a player like
06:07 there was a lot of questions
06:08 going into this one. About his
06:10 toughness and does he really
06:11 want to play in all this
06:12 different stuff. And you find
06:13 out about the shoulder after
06:14 the fact and he makes a play
06:16 like this like. I think he
06:17 answered a lot of that which is
06:18 why I thought it was a worthy
06:19 play. And I think he's a
06:20 great guy and- he's a great
06:21 guy and- he's a great guy to
06:22 play with. And I think he's
06:23 gonna be a great guy to play
06:24 with. And I think he's gonna
06:25 be a great guy to play with.
06:26 And I think he's gonna be a
06:27 great guy to play with. And I
06:28 think he's gonna be a great
06:29 guy to play with. And I think
06:30 he's gonna be a great guy to
06:31 play with. And I think he's
06:32 gonna be a great guy to play
06:33 with. And I think he's gonna
06:34 be a great guy to play with.
06:35 And I think he's gonna be a
06:36 great guy to play with. And I
06:37 think he's gonna be a great
06:38 guy to play with. And I think
06:39 he's gonna be a great guy to
06:40 play with. And I think he's
06:41 gonna be a great guy to play
06:42 with. And I think he's gonna
06:43 be a great guy to play with.
06:44 And I think he's gonna be a
06:45 great guy to play with. And I
06:46 think he's gonna be a great
06:47 guy to play with. And I think
06:48 he's gonna be a great guy to
06:49 play with. And I think he's
06:50 gonna be a great guy to play
06:51 with. And I think he's gonna
06:52 be a great guy to play with.
06:53 And I think he's gonna be a
06:54 great guy to play with. And I
06:55 think he's gonna be a great
06:56 guy to play with. And I think
06:57 he's gonna be a great guy to
06:58 play with. And I think he's
06:59 gonna be a great guy to play
07:00 with. And I think he's gonna
07:01 be a great guy to play with.
07:02 And I think he's gonna be a
07:03 great guy to play with. And
07:29 I think he's gonna be a great
07:30 guy to play with. And I think
07:31 he's gonna be a great guy to
07:32 play with. And I think he's
07:33 gonna be a great guy to play
07:34 with. And I think he's gonna
07:35 be a great guy to play with.
07:36 And I think he's gonna be a
07:37 great guy to play with. And
07:38 I think he's gonna be a great
07:39 guy to play with. And I think
07:40 he's gonna be a great guy to
07:41 play with. And I think he's
07:42 gonna be a great guy to play
07:43 with. And I think he's gonna
07:44 be a great guy to play with.
07:45 And I think he's gonna be a
07:46 great guy to play with. And
07:47 I think he's gonna be a great
07:48 guy to play with. And I think
07:49 he's gonna be a great guy to
07:50 play with. And I think he's
07:51 gonna be a great guy to play
08:14 with. And I think he's gonna
08:15 be a great guy to play with.
08:16 And I think he's gonna be a
08:17 great guy to play with. And
08:18 I think he's gonna be a great
08:19 guy to play with. And I think
08:20 he's gonna be a great guy to
08:21 play with. And I think he's
08:22 gonna be a great guy to play
08:23 with. And I think he's gonna
08:24 be a great guy to play with.
08:25 And I think he's gonna be a
08:26 great guy to play with. And
08:27 I think he's gonna be a great
08:28 guy to play with. And I think
08:29 he's gonna be a great guy to
08:30 play with. And I think he's
08:31 gonna be a great guy to play
08:32 with. And I think he's gonna
08:33 be a great guy to play with.
08:34 And I think he's gonna be a
08:35 great guy to play with. And
08:36 I think he's gonna be a great

12:30 great guy to play with.
12:31 And I think he's gonna be a
12:32 great guy to play with.
12:33 And I think he's gonna be a
12:34 great guy to play with.
12:35 And I think he's gonna be a
12:36 great guy to play with.
12:37 And I think he's gonna be a
12:38 great guy to play with.
12:39 And I think he's gonna be a
12:40 great guy to play with.
12:41 And I think he's gonna be a
12:42 great guy to play with.
12:43 And I think he's gonna be a
12:44 great guy to play with.
12:45 And I think he's gonna be a
12:46 great guy to play with.
12:47 And I think he's gonna be a
12:48 great guy to play with.
12:49 And I think he's gonna be a
12:50 great guy to play with.
12:51 And I think he's gonna be a
12:52 great guy to play with.
12:53 And I think he's gonna be a
12:54 great guy to play with.
12:55 And I think he's gonna be a
12:56 great guy to play with.
12:57 And I think he's gonna be a
12:58 great guy to play with.
12:59 And I think he's gonna be a
13:00 great guy to play with.
13:01 And I think he's gonna be a
13:02 great guy to play with.
13:03 And I think he's gonna be a
13:04 great guy to play with.
13:05 And I think he's gonna be a
13:06 great guy to play with.
13:07 And I think he's gonna be a
13:08 great guy to play with.
13:09 And I think he's gonna be a
13:10 great guy to play with.
13:11 And I think he's gonna be a
13:12 great guy to play with.
13:13 And I think he's gonna be a
13:14 great guy to play with.
13:15 And I think he's gonna be a
13:16 great guy to play with.
13:17 And I think he's gonna be a
13:18 great guy to play with.
13:19 And I think he's gonna be a
13:20 great guy to play with.
13:21 And I think he's gonna be a
13:22 great guy to play with.
13:23 And I think he's gonna be a
13:24 great guy to play with.
13:25 And I think he's gonna be a
13:26 great guy to play with.
13:27 And I think he's gonna be a
13:28 great guy to play with.
13:29 And I think he's gonna be a
13:30 great guy to play with.
13:31 And I think he's gonna be a
13:32 great guy to play with.
13:33 And I think he's gonna be a
13:34 great guy to play with.
13:35 And I think he's gonna be a
13:36 great guy to play with.
13:37 >> And I think he's gonna be a
13:38 great guy to play with.
13:39 And I think he's gonna be a
13:40 great guy to play with.
13:41 And I think he's gonna be a
13:42 great guy to play with.
13:43 And I think he's gonna be a
13:44 great guy to play with.
13:45 And I think he's gonna be a
13:46 great guy to play with.
13:47 And I think he's gonna be a
13:48 great guy to play with.
13:49 And I think he's gonna be a
13:50 great guy to play with.
13:51 And I think he's gonna be a
13:52 great guy to play with.
13:53 And I think he's gonna be a
13:54 great guy to play with.
13:55 And I think he's gonna be a
13:56 great guy to play with.
13:57 And I think he's gonna be a
13:58 great guy to play with.
13:59 And I think he's gonna be a
14:00 great guy to play with.
14:01 >> And I think he's gonna be a
14:02 great guy to play with.
14:03 And I think he's gonna be a
14:04 great guy to play with.
14:05 And I think he's gonna be a
14:06 great guy to play with.
14:07 And I think he's gonna be a
14:08 great guy to play with.
14:09 And I think he's gonna be a
14:10 great guy to play with.
14:11 And I think he's gonna be a
14:12 great guy to play with.
14:13 And I think he's gonna be a
14:14 great guy to play with.
14:15 And I think he's gonna be a
14:16 great guy to play with.
14:17 And I think he's gonna be a
14:18 great guy to play with.
14:19 And I think he's gonna be a
14:20 great guy to play with.
14:21 And I think he's gonna be a
14:22 great guy to play with.
14:23 And I think he's gonna be a
14:24 great guy to play with.
14:25 >> And I think that they had
14:26 him on the next show and it was
14:27 like, "Dude, you're an alien
14:28 out there, man.
14:29 Like, you're not --
14:30 Human beings aren't supposed to
14:31 be built like you."
14:32 >> Yeah, in a season that could
14:34 be sort of defined for Miles or
14:36 I guess the cherry on top of it
14:38 for Miles of winning
14:39 Defensive Player of the Year,
14:40 he was the Pro Football Writers
14:41 of America's Defensive Player
14:42 of the Year.
14:43 We'll see if he gets it for the
14:44 AP version at the NFL Honors
14:47 next week.
14:48 But in a season where that could
14:51 be the accolade that he gets
14:53 and receives, and rightfully so,
14:54 very much worth putting Miles
14:57 Garrett in this top 10.
14:59 And this play was one of his
15:00 biggest of the season.
15:01 And it's crazy because, like I
15:03 said, this was the one game that
15:05 you kind of look back on and you
15:06 realize, like, it was in flux
15:08 because of just some weird
15:09 circumstances, not great
15:11 quarterback play, really, and a
15:14 game that the defense kind of
15:17 didn't play their best.
15:18 Like, aside from that Houston
15:19 game in the playoffs, like, this
15:20 might have been, looking back,
15:22 their worst defensive
15:23 performance of the season
15:24 otherwise.
15:25 And you get Miles Garrett
15:28 stepping up in a couple key
15:30 moments that kind of flip the
15:31 game on its head and in favor
15:33 of the Browns.
15:34 And this was obviously one of
15:35 them.
15:36 So I think definitely worth
15:37 remembering when you kind of go
15:38 through the schedule, that was
15:40 the Miles Garrett game, right?
15:41 Like, that was the game that he
15:42 kind of won for you.
15:43 And that's -- it speaks to just
15:45 his value.
15:46 He can single-handedly win you a
15:47 game like this.
15:48 So it's a good one to certainly
15:49 feature on here.
15:50 >> Absolutely.
15:51 I pause it here because this was
15:52 one of my favorite shots of the
15:55 Browns, like, this season with
15:56 the crowd going nuts in enemy
15:58 territory.
15:59 Like, all the Browns fans are
16:00 right here.
16:01 And it's the dog pile for the
16:04 touchdown.
16:05 Just an amazing play.
16:06 Everything you said is dead on.
16:07 Like, even in this game, we
16:08 probably -- this was during the
16:10 stretch where the refs were on
16:11 our side for whatever reason.
16:12 And we got kind of lucky towards
16:14 the end of the game.
16:15 And, you know, you never
16:16 apologize for a win.
16:17 But, you know, that win in Indy
16:18 had a lot to do with number 95.
16:20 >> It was four field goals for
16:22 Dustin Hopkins, by the way,
16:23 three of them from 50-plus yards
16:25 and his career-high 58.
16:26 So, yeah, Dustin Hopkins game as
16:28 well.
16:29 Let's go to number six.
16:30 We're about halfway done here.
16:31 We go back to week 10.
16:32 Again, a game that we've said
16:34 sort of defined the Browns
16:35 season.
16:36 And this, another defensive play
16:37 that sort of turned the scales
16:39 in the favor of the Browns.
16:40 >> Yeah, and Greg Newsom gets
16:41 one here.
16:42 And here he is at the bottom of
16:43 your screen.
16:44 And it's so fun to come back and
16:45 watch this week 10 game.
16:46 Like, the Ravens were the one
16:47 seed in the AFC.
16:48 And they, you know, just played
16:50 a couple days ago in the AFC
16:51 championship game.
16:52 And, you know, this was one where
16:53 the Browns came out of it and
16:54 was like, "Hey, this was
16:55 everything you wanted to see.
16:56 We got down early, played bad
16:57 early, continued to fight,
16:59 continued to battle, continued
17:00 to grind."
17:01 And a big play like this happens
17:02 where everyone kind of does the
17:04 right thing.
17:05 You get Oboe, who really makes
17:07 the play.
17:08 He's just bull rushing his guy
17:09 back into Lamar's, right into
17:11 Lamar's lap.
17:12 Lamar has to hesitate.
17:13 He gets his hands up in the air.
17:14 And then Greg Newsom swoops
17:16 right in, grabs the
17:17 interception, and takes it the
17:18 distance.
17:19 His first career interception
17:20 against Lamar Jackson, and he
17:22 takes it back to the house.
17:24 >> I remember being stunned that
17:25 that was his first --
17:27 >> Yeah.
17:28 >> -- the first time he's done
17:29 that.
17:30 'Cause you would think, like,
17:31 "Oh, Greg Newsom, he's been in
17:32 the league long enough.
17:33 He's made some plays."
17:34 So for that to be the first one,
17:35 he gets it in that fashion, in
17:36 that moment, in a game where
17:38 you're trying to kind of battle
17:39 back.
17:40 And they made Lamar look sort of
17:43 -- I don't want to say
17:44 mediocre, but they made him look
17:46 average, or they made him look
17:47 like just another quarterback
17:48 out there in this game
17:49 specifically.
17:50 That was one of a couple
17:51 turnovers that he had.
17:53 And, yeah, this one got you
17:55 right back in the mix in this
17:57 game and brings you basically
18:00 to the -- towards the end of it
18:03 where you get a chance to come
18:06 back and complete the comeback
18:08 with that drive that we
18:10 obviously highlighted earlier
18:11 with Deshaun Watson.
18:13 But, yeah, like, this was such a
18:15 tipping point and such an
18:16 important play because you score
18:19 that touchdown on the pick six
18:21 and suddenly you're talking
18:23 about being back in this game
18:25 completely.
18:27 You're basically going down to
18:29 tie it up.
18:30 And that was the funny part
18:31 about it was the missed PAT from
18:33 Hopkins, and you're like, "Oh,
18:35 no.
18:36 This isn't going to happen
18:37 again."
18:38 You come all the way back.
18:39 You have a chance to tie the
18:40 game at 31, and he misses the
18:43 PAT, but it didn't end up
18:45 mattering.
18:46 They get the ball back again,
18:48 and they deliver on the final
18:50 drive, which I think is a nice
18:52 segue into our number five play
18:54 one more time.
18:55 We're going to come back to this
18:57 game because, Megs, if there's a
19:00 play that I think defined the
19:02 season most, this one might be
19:04 it.
19:05 >> This is just a spectacular --
19:07 This is Cleveland Browns
19:08 football.
19:09 We're going to run it right up
19:10 the middle, and then everybody
19:11 is going to get in there.
19:12 Elijah Moore is going to get in
19:13 there and turn his little legs.
19:14 All the offensive linemen are
19:15 going to get in there and really
19:17 make the push.
19:18 Jerome Ford makes a guy miss.
19:19 Then he's going to start dragging
19:20 guys.
19:21 He gets his momentum stopped.
19:22 Help me out here.
19:23 I'm not a math major.
19:24 33-yard line.
19:25 And then here we go.
19:26 The boys just start pushing.
19:28 Joel gets in there.
19:29 >> He gets the first down.
19:30 >> Yep, first down, and then my
19:32 favorite -- probably my favorite
19:34 part of the season happens right
19:36 here.
19:37 James Hudson, backup tackle
19:39 coming into play.
19:40 Watch this.
19:41 He comes out of it.
19:42 He's like, "Let's go!"
19:43 Like, this is awesome.
19:44 Because this was like -- this was
19:46 like they were able to at this
19:47 point -- Deshaun runs around,
19:49 takes a knee on the next play.
19:51 They run the clock all the way
19:52 down to three seconds, and they
19:54 had a chance to win the game on
19:55 a walk-off field goal because of
19:57 this play.
19:58 And instead of kicking it from,
20:01 you know, let's say you get no
20:03 yards, you kick it from the 40,
20:04 right?
20:05 Let's say they just kick it from
20:07 right here.
20:08 You know, at the 33, you had 17
20:10 yards, you know, on to the field
20:13 goal for the 10 yards in the end
20:14 zone and seven yards back.
20:15 That's a 50-yarder if it gets
20:17 stopped right here.
20:18 Instead, we gain, I don't know,
20:20 10 more yards with just a whole
20:22 bunch of heart right there just
20:24 pulling him forward and, you
20:25 know, kind of sealing this
20:26 thing.
20:27 >> That play came a couple plays
20:29 after that Deshaun Watson run
20:31 that we played for you earlier
20:32 was number 10 on our list.
20:34 And, yeah, like I said, it's not
20:36 going to be number one because
20:37 it's not like the flashiest,
20:39 fanciest play, I don't think.
20:41 But I think in a season that was
20:43 defined by injuries and
20:44 resiliency and overcoming all
20:45 these different things, this one
20:46 I think spoke to just the
20:48 togetherness of this group, the
20:49 fact that they were willing to
20:50 do anything they could to win and
20:52 including push this as we -- I
20:54 think we dubbed it, our site
20:56 dubbed it the Cleveland
20:57 Caravan, this kind of push of
20:59 Jerome Ford.
21:00 And you're right, I think the
21:01 James Hudson sort of celebration
21:02 at the end is the cherry on top
21:04 of it.
21:05 But a really fun play that sets
21:07 you up with the maybe defining
21:08 win of the season, kicking the
21:10 field goal to make it 31-33 and
21:13 you win it.
21:14 Just fantastic stuff.
21:15 I think this was worth being on
21:16 there.
21:17 I'm glad it makes the top ten.
21:19 But we now go to the exclusive
21:21 of the exclusive, if you will.
21:23 This is the creme de la creme
21:24 from here.
21:25 We take you to week 15, a big
21:27 game against the Bears where the
21:28 Browns also had to pull off a
21:30 comeback.
21:31 And David Njoku, this was where
21:33 we kind of got into the weeds
21:35 because we made our list and we
21:37 were like, I don't think we have
21:39 a David Njoku play on here.
21:40 But he was so important to the
21:41 season, we had to get him in.
21:43 I think this play was one of his
21:45 best of the season.
21:46 >> Yeah, it truly was.
21:47 And this game, right, this is
21:49 really when he started clicking
21:50 kind of with Joe Flacco.
21:52 And this play specifically,
21:53 within the situation of the game,
21:55 the Bears were kind of getting
21:56 after the Browns.
21:57 And they were really causing
21:58 havoc because this was the first
22:00 game where Cleveland's injuries
22:02 started to really show
22:03 themselves.
22:04 The tackles were getting
22:05 dominated, you know, with the
22:06 Bears' elite defensive line.
22:08 And Joe Flacco, truthfully, was
22:10 starting to kind of turn into a
22:11 pumpkin, right?
22:12 He was like, hey, the Cinderella
22:13 story, and he was like coming
22:14 back down to earth.
22:15 He was throwing some
22:16 interceptions.
22:17 He had that really bad one
22:18 when Njoku was wide open in the
22:19 end zone and, you know, a couple
22:20 bad plays.
22:21 But, you know, to his credit and
22:23 the reason why you have guys
22:25 like this is they're so veteran
22:27 that they know the game's not
22:28 over until there's triple zeros.
22:30 And that is a perfect way to
22:32 describe this game as we
22:33 remember how it happened.
22:34 But in this specific play, you
22:36 know, this is just awesome stuff
22:38 by '85.
22:39 Like right here, everything's
22:40 covered.
22:41 Okay?
22:42 And Flacco's rolling out.
22:43 And then once Flacco doesn't
22:44 look at the throw, once this
22:46 cornerback or this defender
22:47 turns his head to Joe Flacco as
22:49 a quarterback, you're taught if
22:51 you see the back of his head,
22:52 the back of the corner's head,
22:53 your guy's wide open because
22:55 this guy doesn't have any idea
22:57 of where the ball's going to be.
22:58 And he just lets one rip to
23:00 Njoku, and Njoku just goes and
23:02 dunks.
23:03 >> Got lost.
23:04 Got lost on him.
23:05 >> And just dunks on him right
23:06 there.
23:07 Bang.
23:08 Gets that toe tap.
23:09 And then this cameraman right
23:11 here, either one of these guys
23:13 gets the picture of the year
23:14 with him holding the ball,
23:15 looking right back up at the
23:16 camera.
23:17 It was pretty darn sweet.
23:19 >> I love this play.
23:21 You know, you get Flacco out of
23:22 the pocket, and it kind of spoke
23:25 to late in the season just the
23:28 magic that he kind of had to
23:29 him.
23:30 Like, there's only so many
23:31 players that are going to put
23:32 the ball right where it needs to
23:33 be like that.
23:34 I mean, this is kind of what
23:35 started that conversation just
23:36 about, like, Flacco being the --
23:38 maybe giving you the best
23:40 quarterback play you've seen in
23:41 Cleveland since the team came
23:43 back in '99, or at least the
23:44 most consistent.
23:45 And, I mean, this was, like,
23:47 pure just talent from Flacco
23:50 knowing where to put the ball
23:52 and trusting his guy to make a
23:53 play.
23:54 And same thing with Njoku.
23:55 Like, you talk about a guy who's
23:56 been through sort of a
23:57 rollercoaster during his time in
23:58 Cleveland, and this year in
24:00 particular, like, the Burns going
24:02 into week four, and he still
24:03 played that game.
24:04 He hurt his toe late in the
24:06 season as well and played
24:07 through it, and he had to get
24:08 stitches.
24:09 So, like, this was another play
24:11 that defined a really, really
24:12 good season for both those guys,
24:14 but an impressive one in a game
24:15 that I also think, like the
24:17 Ravens game, you look back on it
24:19 and remember, like, that was an
24:20 important one for where this
24:21 season kind of ended up.
24:22 We'll come back to it, so I
24:23 don't want to give everything
24:24 away, but let's go to number
24:26 three.
24:27 We got week 17 back against the
24:29 Jets, and we hit on this game a
24:31 little bit earlier, but this play
24:33 I think is the one that really
24:35 brought the house down and let
24:36 everybody know that the Browns
24:38 were going to be going to the
24:39 playoffs this year.
24:40 >> Yeah, we -- this is just
24:41 amazing.
24:42 Like, and we didn't have a
24:43 Brownie breakdowns for this
24:44 game.
24:45 We had some other stuff going on,
24:46 so we couldn't get to it, but,
24:48 like, watching this play back,
24:49 you're like, "Oh, my gosh."
24:50 First and foremost, Joe Flacco
24:52 takes a right hook to the face.
24:54 You can't quite see it, but I
24:56 remember this being like, "Oh,
24:57 there's going to be definitely a
24:58 flag here."
24:59 But when he scrambles out, man,
25:00 he's like -- right now, he's
25:01 like, "Oh, maybe I go run this
25:03 thing."
25:04 >> Yeah, he's got green.
25:05 >> He's like, "Maybe I just go
25:07 run this thing 60 yards to the
25:08 crib."
25:09 Instead, he's like, "Uh-oh, my
25:10 guy, my running back, Jerome
25:12 Ford, he's got a better chance
25:13 to do so."
25:14 And he catches it.
25:15 This play's great for so many
25:16 reasons, but one thing that I
25:18 want to call out here before I
25:19 let it run is watch right here
25:21 where my cursor is.
25:22 You're going to see Marise --
25:24 or Marquise -- or, excuse me,
25:26 Marquise Goodwin.
25:27 Marquise Brown.
25:28 We'll get to that later.
25:29 But Marquise Goodwin.
25:30 >> I just wrote a piece about
25:31 him today, if you're interested,
25:33 over at bronzedigest.com.
25:34 >> Yeah.
25:35 Marquise Goodwin here.
25:37 This was one of my favorite
25:38 things.
25:39 We tweeted it out, and it got
25:40 some run, and they even
25:41 commented on it, all the players
25:42 did, about the heart of this
25:43 team.
25:44 Goodwin doesn't have any
25:45 catches all year long, three
25:46 catches, but --
25:47 >> Yeah, the block.
25:48 >> He blocks.
25:49 He makes a huge block on
25:50 Solomon Thomas at the goal line.
25:51 Like, this play was like
25:53 everything you've ever wanted
25:54 in Cleveland sports.
25:55 Like, this got flack of the
25:56 300 yards, darn near, in the
25:57 first half.
25:58 This got this place rocking.
26:00 The crowd was going crazy.
26:02 Jerome Ford going into score,
26:03 and, like, this was when it was
26:05 party time in Cleveland.
26:06 Like, yeah, we're going to the
26:07 playoff.
26:08 >> I think the way you summed
26:10 it up was great.
26:11 Just kind of like a pure will
26:12 type thing, and that's been --
26:14 that was the story of the
26:15 season, I think, in general.
26:16 You know, Ford runs a guy over
26:17 to get there.
26:18 You get the block by Marquise
26:19 Goodwin, who didn't have a
26:20 major role in this offense, but
26:21 is still out there making plays
26:22 for his teammate.
26:23 That's the unselfishness that
26:24 this team talked about a lot
26:25 all year, and it was good to see
26:26 it kind of all come together in
26:27 this play, and you're right.
26:28 This was kind of a nice moment
26:31 because you just lost Elijah
26:33 Moore, I think, actually a play
26:34 before in the game, and you were
26:38 kind of nervous then, like,
26:39 "Well, there's no more
26:40 Omari Cooper.
26:41 There's no Elijah Moore.
26:42 Who the hell is Flacco going to
26:43 throw to the rest of the game
26:44 if this stays close?"
26:45 Like, it made you a little bit
26:46 nervous, but then you get a play
26:47 like that, and it just -- it
26:49 made the lead too
26:50 insurmountable for a bad Jets
26:51 offense, and everyone kind of
26:52 knew what was going to happen,
26:53 and that kind of -- that kind
26:54 of second half had a few tense
26:55 moments where you're like, "Okay,
26:56 what if the Jets come back?"
26:57 But I think for the most part,
26:58 this kind of sealed the deal and
26:59 let everybody know, "Hey,
27:00 Cleveland Browns are going to
27:01 the playoffs."
27:02 We got two plays left.
27:03 Let's go back to week seven in
27:05 Indianapolis.
27:06 We talked about Myles Garrett
27:07 taking this game over, and
27:10 listen, the special teams this
27:12 year were really, really good.
27:13 I think we'd be remiss if we
27:14 didn't have at least one special
27:15 team play on there, and the fact
27:17 that this one involves Myles
27:18 Garrett makes it twofold a very
27:20 worthy nomination for the list.
27:22 >> The Myles Garrett game, I
27:24 mean, this doesn't need an
27:25 introduction.
27:26 This play is just ridiculous.
27:28 Like, come on.
27:29 Jumps over an offensive line.
27:31 He jumps over a human being from
27:33 a four-point stance.
27:35 Like, I challenge anybody
27:36 watching this, listening to this,
27:37 I challenge myself to just go
27:38 stand --
27:39 >> This is the angle right here.
27:40 >> -- stand and do a box jump to
27:42 land -- or to jump over a six-foot
27:44 tall box.
27:45 Like, you've got to be out of
27:46 your mind to do that.
27:48 >> And he does it -- like,
27:49 you're not allowed to do that
27:50 over the center anymore.
27:51 That's the rule.
27:52 But he did it over, like, the
27:53 guard, so it was fine.
27:55 >> And you're not allowed to
27:56 make -- you're not allowed to
27:57 make contact.
27:58 Like, if he would have made
27:59 contact with anybody on the line,
28:00 it's a penalty.
28:01 But he clears everything,
28:02 doesn't touch anybody, jumps
28:04 straight up and blocks the kick.
28:06 Like, are you serious?
28:08 >> Unreal.
28:09 Unreal.
28:10 Like, just one of those plays
28:11 that lead that -- those games for
28:12 him and one of the plays that
28:14 leads you just awe-inspired that
28:15 this guy plays in the Cleveland
28:16 Browns.
28:17 He is something special.
28:20 I love that we put this one on
28:22 here because it's probably
28:23 another one of those plays that
28:24 I don't know if it's forgotten
28:25 completely, but it probably
28:26 doesn't make, like, most people's
28:28 top-10 lists.
28:29 I think it's super worthy
28:31 because, I mean, you don't see
28:33 this very often, and you get it
28:34 from that player, and it's also
28:36 a special teams play, which
28:37 deserves highlighting because
28:38 special teams are great this
28:39 year.
28:40 >> Well, and, too, like, this is
28:41 one where, like, oh, yeah, he
28:42 did that way back in week six or
28:43 whatever week it was.
28:44 I keep forgetting.
28:45 But, like, oh, yeah, Milo did
28:46 that.
28:47 But then you see it again, and
28:48 you're like, "What in the
28:49 heck?"
28:50 Like, this isn't a human play.
28:51 You're like, this -- you just
28:52 forget, like, how incredible
28:54 Miles Garrett is.
28:55 >> Also, I'll say this, too.
28:57 Miles does a lot of impressive
28:58 things, but sometimes you forget
29:00 about some of the impressive
29:01 things because he makes it seem
29:02 so normal.
29:03 Like, this should not seem
29:04 normal, but for him, it's
29:06 essentially normal.
29:07 It's crazy.
29:08 Absolutely crazy.
29:09 All right, that brings us, as we
29:11 get ready to wrap this thing up,
29:12 to our final play, number one on
29:15 the top-10 plays of the 2023
29:17 season for the Cleveland
29:18 Browns.
29:19 We're taking you back to week
29:20 15.
29:21 This throw, Megs, oh, chef's
29:25 kiss.
29:26 Chef's kiss.
29:27 And I know you appreciate it as
29:28 a quarterback.
29:29 One of the best throws you will
29:30 ever see in your life.
29:32 I don't care who it is.
29:33 Mahomes, Brady, somehow it came
29:35 out of the arm of Joe Flacco.
29:37 Yes, he is elite.
29:38 But unbelievable throw, and I
29:40 will never forget this play.
29:42 Like, this throw was
29:43 incredible.
29:44 >> The way I remember this play
29:46 is, you know, just where I was
29:48 watching it, I was a little
29:50 delayed, and the Browns never
29:52 tweet, like, immediately after a
29:54 score, unless it's a massive
29:56 play.
29:57 And I'll never forget it.
29:58 I'm watching, and I must have
29:59 rewound it earlier, and I just
30:01 see a tweet from the Browns that
30:03 said, "Coop," with, like, a
30:04 million Os.
30:05 Like, "Coop."
30:06 I'm like, "Uh-oh."
30:07 I stood up in my chair and
30:08 watched this, and, like, this is
30:10 unbelievable.
30:11 This throw is in the only spot it
30:13 could be.
30:14 You probably, if you run this
30:16 play back, and he does it again,
30:18 if you ask Joe Flacco, he
30:19 probably shouldn't have thrown it
30:21 because this guy's lurking and
30:22 is probably supposed to intercept
30:23 this thing, but it doesn't
30:24 matter.
30:25 >> I mean, that's just pure
30:26 arm strength, though.
30:27 Pure arm strength.
30:28 >> Pure arm strength and
30:29 accuracy.
30:30 This is my favorite part of it.
30:31 Like, watch where he decides to
30:32 throw this.
30:33 Like, all right, he's deciding
30:34 right now to throw this football.
30:36 Like, this is psychotic stuff
30:38 right here.
30:39 Amari not even cleared this guy.
30:40 He's ripping it.
30:41 Like, he's going -- he's in it
30:42 through the window.
30:43 >> This is the window.
30:44 >> Right now.
30:45 And then watch this window,
30:46 right?
30:47 Boom, right there.
30:48 Are you -- dude.
30:49 >> A laser.
30:50 >> He couldn't have walked it
30:51 out 30 yards and handed it to
30:52 Amari in a better place than what
30:54 it is there.
30:55 He, like, literally puts it in
30:56 the bread basket and truthfully
30:58 allows Amari to really protect
31:00 himself.
31:01 >> Yeah.
31:02 >> All three of these defenders
31:03 are like, "Ball, ball, ball,"
31:04 and instead nobody touches him,
31:05 and he gives him -- it's a
31:06 runner's football, and he's able
31:08 to stay in bounds tightrope, and
31:10 the crowd goes wild.
31:11 This is the most amazing throw
31:12 you'll ever see.
31:13 >> Pure arm strength, I think,
31:14 is the first thing I say.
31:16 Second thing is just, like,
31:17 that's just really good football
31:19 IQ.
31:20 Like, he knew that Koop was
31:22 going to clear that guy, that
31:23 linebacker, and that he could
31:24 fit it in there.
31:25 Now, you got to trust yourself.
31:26 You got to have some confidence
31:27 to make that throw, but, like,
31:29 just good -- great football IQ
31:31 and just pure arm strength and
31:33 talent from Flacco all around.
31:35 Like, I will remember this play
31:37 forever.
31:38 I also will say, before we get
31:40 out of here, my favorite thing
31:42 about it really isn't -- like,
31:44 yes, the play itself is great,
31:45 but my favorite thing about it
31:46 was his reaction after the game
31:48 was just so nonchalant.
31:49 He basically was like, "Yeah,
31:51 you know, I saw the linebacker,
31:52 and I knew he was going to clear,
31:53 and I was like, eh."
31:55 There was a window to get it in
31:56 there, and it was like, "Dude,
31:58 that window was not that big."
31:59 He made it seem like the window
32:01 was like, I don't know, like,
32:02 the size of, like, a -- I don't
32:05 know, a school bus.
32:06 >> Yeah.
32:07 >> Like, lengthwise, school bus.
32:08 >> Look at it.
32:09 >> Unbelievable.
32:10 >> That's your window right
32:11 there.
32:12 I mean, that's maybe 10 feet
32:13 wide, but these are guys running
32:14 at full speed, closing, and you
32:16 have to -- like, this is a dead
32:18 space here.
32:19 So, like, really, truthfully,
32:20 the window is right here to right
32:22 there.
32:23 You probably got, what, 5 feet
32:25 side to side?
32:26 Like, are you kidding me?
32:27 That's insane.
32:28 >> To me, he made it sound like
32:30 it was like a bay window, and it
32:32 was more like a prison cell
32:34 window, like, just tight as it
32:36 can be.
32:37 Unbelievable.
32:38 >> Yeah.
32:39 >> So, I think that's it for
32:40 this one.
32:41 I think we're going to wrap up
32:42 this one.
32:43 I think we're going to wrap up
32:44 this one.
32:45 I think we're going to wrap up
32:46 this one.
32:47 I think we're going to wrap up
32:48 this one.
32:49 I think we're going to wrap up
32:50 this one.
32:51 I think we're going to wrap up
32:52 this one.
32:53 I think we're going to wrap up
32:54 this one.
32:55 I think we're going to wrap up
32:56 this one.
32:57 I think we're going to wrap up
32:58 this one.
32:59 I think we're going to wrap up
33:00 this one.
33:01 I think we're going to wrap up
33:02 this one.
33:03 I think we're going to wrap up
33:04 this one.
33:05 I think we're going to wrap up
33:06 this one.
33:07 I think we're going to wrap up
33:08 this one.
33:09 I think we're going to wrap up
33:10 this one.
33:11 I think we're going to wrap up
33:12 this one.
33:13 I think we're going to wrap up
33:14 this one.
33:15 I think we're going to wrap up
33:16 this one.
33:17 I think we're going to wrap up
33:18 this one.
33:19 I think we're going to wrap up
33:20 this one.
33:21 I think we're going to wrap up
33:22 this one.
33:23 I think we're going to wrap up
33:24 this one.
33:25 I think we're going to wrap up
33:26 this one.
33:27 I think we're going to wrap up
33:28 this one.
33:29 I think we're going to wrap up
33:30 this one.
33:31 I think we're going to wrap up
33:32 this one.
33:33 I think we're going to wrap up
33:34 this one.
33:35 I think we're going to wrap up
33:36 this one.
33:37 I think we're going to wrap up
33:38 this one.
33:39 I think we're going to wrap up
33:40 this one.
33:41 I think we're going to wrap up
33:42 this one.
33:43 I think we're going to wrap up
33:44 this one.
33:45 I think we're going to wrap up
33:46 this one.
33:47 I think we're going to wrap up
