00:00 The Bureau of Customs has released a list of local and foreign forwarding companies

00:05 that have a record of abandoning their return boxes.

00:08 The agency has also placed a check to alleviate the problems of those who have not yet arrived.

00:17 The OFW, Zaldy Pahati, has been saving for almost a year

00:24 the return boxes for his children and parents. He said he sent four return boxes last May.

00:32 But only one arrived to his family in Calumpit, Bulacan.

00:54 According to the Bureau of Customs, the main reason why the return boxes are being delayed or not arriving

01:02 is because foreign forwarding companies and their local Filipino partners have problems.

01:07 For example, if a foreign forwarder cannot pay the local deconsolidator,

01:12 he also has no payment to release the shipment.

01:15 Most of the problems are from forwarding companies from the Middle East.

01:20 The consolidator and their deconsolidator are teaching each other.

01:23 The deconsolidator, by the way, is the local counterpart.

01:26 That's why it's said that sometimes, it's like a modus for others.

01:30 When it comes to this, the OFW will immediately file an affidavit of express abandonment.

01:35 They're saying that they're not interested in collecting the return boxes.

01:38 According to the Customs, the return boxes were abandoned last year.

01:44 But the BOC found a way and delivered more than 9,500 boxes.

01:50 To solve the problems of the affected companies,

01:53 they filed a two-million-peso bond before the deconsolidator was allowed.

02:00 The BOC also has a memorandum of agreement with the Department of Migrant Workers

02:04 so that foreign forwarding companies can file complaints abroad.

02:10 According to the Customs, foreign forwarding companies should not use records of abandonment of return boxes.

02:17 They issued a list on their social media pages of local and foreign forwarding companies

02:23 that have a record of abandonment of return boxes.

02:28 they should report it to the social media pages of the BOC or call 870-5600.
