00:02 >> Trey, when we talked last week, you kind of talked about just how your time
00:06 hurt, helped you see games differently by having the perspective of being on the
00:11 bench.
00:11 I'm wondering during that game at Virginia, did you see any things, or
00:16 things you're taking away now as you go back and look at the film that can maybe
00:20 change how you guys try to go about playing offense against a team?
00:25 >> Yeah, definitely.
00:26 It was like a blessing and a curse being not being able to play, but
00:30 also be able to see some things that our team couldn't see in the midst of the game.
00:34 So they play their defense, they try to take away some things, and
00:38 a couple moments in the game we let that happen so I could just see those moments,
00:41 talk to my guys, and we all know through film, don't get what the defense wants you
00:45 to do, just keep attacking that, and we have our couple identities,
00:49 couple ideas of how we wanna attack them.
00:50 [BLANK_AUDIO]
00:53 >> Yeah, you guys have been close in a lot of games, but
00:56 haven't won as many as I'm sure you want to.
00:59 What are the one or two things that you both think the team needs to do to kind of
01:02 get over the hump?
01:05 >> I feel like we fight the hardest out of any of the teams that I've played on,
01:08 out of any team that we played against.
01:10 I feel like it's just honing in on the little things during winning time.
01:12 During that last stretch of games is when it's all close,
01:15 we gotta be all together defensively, all together offensively, and
01:17 just play hard and get the little things.
01:19 That's pretty much how we get away from games.
01:22 >> Yeah, and I think that we just need to stay disciplined throughout the full
01:26 course of the game, and just lock in on what coach is telling us to do.
01:30 And we get away from that sometimes, when the games are close.
01:34 But I feel like if we stay more disciplined, then we'll be good.
01:37 >> You guys play a lot of teams, you play a lot of different styles.
01:42 When you're playing against Virginia,
01:43 how difficult is it to stay locked in because of the way they play defense?
01:50 >> Difficult, I mean, I feel like any game is difficult to stay locked in the whole
01:53 game, but that's pretty much what we work on every day.
01:55 So I feel like it's just another game for us.
01:57 Of course, we gotta fight even harder.
01:59 They're a good team, they're a pack line defense team.
02:00 But like I said earlier, we have our ways that we're gonna attack them.
02:04 I feel pretty confident about it.
02:05 >> How much did that moment, you checking out of the game Tuesday and
02:10 getting a loud cheer from the crowd after getting that steal and
02:15 that calling the timeout, just how much did that moment mean to you after
02:20 the game Saturday at Wake Forest that didn't go too great for anybody involved?
02:25 >> It means a lot because the fans are a big part of everything.
02:30 So whenever things are going our way and the fans are behind us,
02:34 it helps us out a lot.
02:35 And I think that next game, if the fans come out and support like they did last
02:38 game, the way they're cheering for me, they should do that for everybody.
02:41 And then I think it'll be a good game and we'll come out with a win.
02:44 [BLANK_AUDIO]
02:51 >> Anybody got anything else?
02:52 [BLANK_AUDIO]
02:57 >> What about in terms of stopping Virginia defensively?
03:01 They're a team that runs longer possessions.
03:03 I think they try and move the ball and break you down.
03:05 What's the keys to holding up defensively against them?
03:08 >> I think the keys to stopping them is just being disciplined throughout the whole
03:12 shot clock and you gotta stay locked in.
03:14 Our coaches, we're watching film and we're watching their possessions and
03:19 how they score and stuff.
03:20 We just gotta stay locked in the whole 24 shot clock or
03:23 how long the shot clock is, we gotta stay locked in.
03:25 >> Anything else for these guys?
03:28 >> I have one more.
03:29 >> Go ahead, Brooks.
03:30 >> So this is now your sixth year in college basketball?
03:33 >> Yes, sir.
03:34 >> Trey, how much does it mean to your whole team to have someone who's been in
03:37 the game for six years now, who's seen it all?
03:41 He's been to some good teams at Kentucky, but to be able to help you guys and
03:45 just add that perspective of someone who's been doing this for a long time.
03:48 >> Yeah, I mean, I can't even put it into words cuz we are a younger team and
03:52 just the thing that even starting from the summer, the things that he would explain
03:55 how he sees it and how slow the game is for him, it definitely helps everybody,
03:59 me included.
04:00 I can't even put it into words on how much we appreciate it.
04:03 >> And then, Zan, it's obviously been a wild journey for you,
04:08 a six year journey, just how have you stayed positive through that,
04:13 coming back from your injury and
04:16 just what are your goals for trying to finish out this year?
04:19 >> Yeah, just staying positive has been big for me and
04:22 working with these guys has been great because they're all young and
04:27 then they haven't seen as much as I have.
04:29 So I just try to give them as much knowledge as I know so
04:33 that we can grow together.
04:35 >> All right, thank you.
