00:00 Bob was trying to tap into sound a little bit higher, you know, and yeah, his
00:06 message, to re-engage with the message of the music and his lyrics really, you know,
00:10 and to hear what he's saying. I think it's a really great moment for the movie to
00:14 come out.
00:15 Bob's not, it's not, he's not simple. There's a huge, there's a huge
00:19 backstory there and I want to make sure that I understood all of it. But it's not
00:23 just Bob, it's anytime I take a role. I want to work, you know what I mean, you gotta go to
00:27 work. And when you start studying Bob, you realize he's on working. So like, if you
00:32 want to get into Bob's character, you have to understand that man was on work.
00:37 He was, he was a grafter and his whole life was about music and creating music and
00:43 the energy he put into creating them songs that we all now get to enjoy. We get to
00:48 receive the benefits of his genius and his creation. So you just gotta get up and get
00:52 on it. Get up and get on it and do the work and just trust that all of the Jamaican
00:58 cast, all of the family, all of Bob's friends, all the love they put into this and all of
01:03 the belief they put into the project. Like this was a communal thing, you know, I've
01:08 never been a part of a project where the creation of something was to do with
01:14 everyone, you know, all of the input. And I had to ask a lot of questions because I'm
01:19 now with Jamaicans every day. I'd be like, "How Bob say this? How Bob say that? How Bob
01:22 say this? How Bob say that?" You know, and Neville Garrick, Bob's close friend who we
01:26 sadly lost. I was with him every day, you know, so it was just a constant conversation
01:33 and just striving to try and just do the best we can with each day and, you know, and then
01:40 just trust that the work will come through.
01:42 Shona was the light, she's the light of this film and she was the light of my process and
01:48 she... LaShona and I had the huge benefit of meeting six months before we started. So
01:54 we were talking about the relationship and the characters for six months before we started
01:58 shooting. So we had a huge head start and LaShona, she's brilliant in our preparation
02:04 and in our work speaks for itself. So we just put our heads together and really tried to
02:10 bring as much dignity and that feeling of unconditional love to it, you know, and like
02:16 sometimes the unspoken says more. So we speak about that a lot. Sometimes you don't need
02:20 to say too much to feel like, to create a feeling. So we worked on that.
02:27 One love, one heart, one destiny, you know?
