Helldivers 2 is a third-person sci-fi co-op shooter developed by Arrowhead Studios. Players will become a Helldiver in the name of exploring the galaxy and reclaiming planets that have fallen under enemy control back into the Super Earth coalition. 00:49 When you start to play as a Helldiver, they've just been defrosted and ready to command their super destroyer.
00:55 In the game of Helldivers 2, you are going to spend most of your time in combat, fighting enemies.
01:01 Everything that's happening outside of the mission, when you're on your ship, is about strategy.
01:09 The Galactic Map shows you the current situation of the war.
01:12 It shows you what planets are super earth planets, what planets are being covered by some sort of enemy scum,
01:17 and where the battlefront is.
01:19 And as the Helldiver, you get to decide exactly what planet you're going to fight on,
01:23 what enemies you're going to go against.
01:25 You get to make quite a number of choices there.
01:28 At the same time, the Galactic War is the place where Super Earth High Command
01:33 is going to be communicating out to Helldivers across the galaxy.
01:36 They'll be letting you know what the current top military priority is.
01:41 They are broken out into two types of orders.
01:44 Major orders and personal orders.
01:46 Major orders are big, long-lasting things that the community as a whole is working towards.
01:52 These are things that are central to the story.
01:55 There are ways in which you can be a major contributor to changing the face of the galaxy itself.
02:00 That's going to take the combined effort of Helldivers across the galaxy working toward that type of goal.
02:06 On the personal order level, something that you and your squad can do all together,
02:10 maybe you'll be sent off to kill a couple of really terrifying enemies, and only in a specific way.
02:15 And if you do it exactly in that way, you'll get a reward for having done the good work of Super Earth.
02:22 Operation
02:24 An operation is a number of missions.
02:27 On lower difficulties you have fewer missions.
02:29 As you go into higher difficulties, you get more missions per operation.
02:33 In a mission, you don't simply have one thing that you're doing.
02:37 You need to shoot the nuclear missile.
02:40 You need to start up the generators for it.
02:42 You need to find the launch codes.
02:44 These are objectives spread out on the map.
02:49 There's also secondary optional objectives.
02:51 You don't have to do it, but you are rewarded if you do.
02:54 Sometimes you find an artillery gun that you can load up and then you can use that artillery gun.
03:00 But there's also hostile ones.
03:03 There are artillery emplacements, buildings that disable you from using your strategy gems,
03:09 gooey bug structures that spreads fog.
03:17 You have your Helldiver destroyer.
03:19 It can be upgraded.
03:20 In the ship management, you buy bigger guns, better eagles.
03:24 And to get those, you need samples.
03:26 You find them on the level.
03:28 You need to extract to get your samples with you to your ship.
03:31 The requisition you use to buy strategy gems, you get it mainly by just doing your missions.
03:42 Most of your personal equipment like your armor, your helmet, primary weapons, grenades,
03:47 those are acquired in your war bond.
03:49 And in the war bond, you need medals.
03:51 You get medals from doing operations.
03:54 You also get it from doing orders.
03:56 You have a lot of stuff that you as a player get to choose from and create a loadout that fits your playstyle.
04:05 The Galactic War isn't just that though.
04:11 It's also a place where we as the developers can interact with you,
04:16 watching what you are doing, watching how the community is playing,
04:19 and maybe if appropriate, giving you just the weapon you need to push yourself over the edge.
04:24 Or maybe if it's the right time in the story, seeing a negative consequence and giving you an added challenge.
04:30 We don't think that many other games are going to be able to offer what Helldivers 2 can.
