Nominations have opened for South Australia’s First Nations Voice to Parliament. Forty-six local First Nations representatives will be elected across six regions, with the two presiding members from each region forming the state's Voice to Parliament.

00:10 The South Australian Electoral Commission are also encouraging those people who are
00:14 eligible to nominate to represent their communities to do so.
00:19 The advisory body will give South Australia's First Nations people direct communications
00:24 with State Parliament, Government agencies and State Cabinet. South Australia's local
00:30 First Nations voice will be made up of six regions from across the state. Five of those
00:35 six regions will have seven elected members. The central region, which does take in Greater
00:42 Adelaide, will have 11 elected members. That's due to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander
00:48 population being greater in this region.
00:52 Each local region will choose two joint presiding members, which will then make up the state's
00:57 First Nations voice.

01:15 Nominations are now open with elections being held on March 16.
