00:02 - Hi, I'm Yancey Ford,
00:07 and I'm director of the documentary film "Power,"
00:09 premiering at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival.
00:12 "Power" isn't about the cop who helped you change your tire
00:17 or who sits on the side of the highway slowing down traffic.
00:20 Power isn't about the one.
00:22 Power is about the one million law enforcement officers
00:25 in the United States
00:27 and the impact their collective power has in our democracy.
00:30 When I first began researching this film
00:32 in the summer of 2020,
00:34 I started out with simple questions.
00:36 What does policing mean for me?
00:38 What does it mean for you?
00:40 In the three years that followed,
00:42 I met and got to know some remarkable people.
00:45 By spending time with them and their work
00:49 and with the help of Rich Archival,
00:50 I soon realized that my simple questions
00:53 weren't so simple after all.
00:56 I am thrilled and excited
00:58 to be premiering this film at Sundance,
01:00 home to some of the world's
01:01 most passionate, engaged audiences.
01:04 And I can't wait to talk with you
01:06 about the film at the festival.
01:08 I hope you'll join us in Park City or in Salt Lake City.
01:11 Until then, please meet some of the incredible people
01:15 who helped make "Power" a reality.
01:17 Thanks.
