00:00 Hello, I'm Emma Higgins with your Manchester Headlines.
00:05 Train drivers union Aslef has announced a new wave of strike action on five days between
00:09 the 30th of January and the 5th of February. The strikes are part of the union's ongoing
00:14 fight for better wages and working conditions on the railway.
00:18 A new Metrolink service has been launched to help get football and music fans to and
00:23 from the city centre. Trams which usually run from Altrincham to Piccadilly will now
00:28 continue onto the Etihad stop on some evenings and all day on Sundays.
00:34 And finally, union bosses are concerned that almost 150 pubs in Greater Manchester are
00:39 at risk of closure. The GMB union has warned the 4,500 pubs and bars in the UK that part
00:46 of the Stonegate Pub Company could close as the group's owner seeks to refinance debt.
00:51 That's your local headlines for now.
