The long-awaited Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link between Johor Bahru and Singapore is taking shape.

A significant construction milestone was reached at the end of December 2023, with the completion of a 17.1m-long concrete span connecting the Singapore and Malaysian ends of a rail viaduct. ST breaks down the RTS Link by the numbers.

00:00 The Rapid Transit System Link, connecting Johor Bahru and Singapore, is scheduled to be ready in end 2026.
00:08 It's expected to ease congestion at the nearby causeway, absorbing at least 35% of even pre-pandemic-level traffic at the crossing.
00:16 It's a 4-kilometre journey on the RTS Link across the Strait of Johor.
00:21 Travelling at about 80 km/h, the train will complete that journey in about 5 minutes.
00:26 The 4-carriage train can carry up to 10,000 passengers per hour in each direction,
