00:04 New figures compiled by the NSPCC have revealed that child sexual offences are close to record

00:09 levels across the north-eastern Cumbria. Almost 6,500 offences were recorded by Cleveland,

00:14 Cumbria, Durham and Northumberland police forces in 2022-23.

00:19 Next, Bridget Philipson, MP for Sunderland, South and Houghton, has set out her party's

00:25 plans to reduce persistent non-attendance rates at schools which have spiralled since

00:29 the pandemic. She said she plans to introduce a national register of children who are not

00:34 in school and use AI to spot absence trends.

00:38 Finally, plans are underway to prevent major flooding in Newcastle. Politicians will be

00:42 asked next week to sign off on the creation of a Newcastle Blue/Green City Scheme which

00:47 will deliver measures to protect the city's homes and infrastructure from being swamped

00:51 with water during flash floods.
