00:00 I mean, I just credit that to the Red Sox.
00:02 I credit that to the coaches and whatnot,
00:04 and us being more comfortable out there on the field.
00:08 So I don't have to think as much.
00:10 I don't have to worry about technical stuff.
00:14 Actually, just trust myself and just
00:15 try to be collected so I can go easy.
00:18 Just doing that for the rest of the season.
00:21 When I thought about that, it was like, OK,
00:23 I got everything under control.
00:24 [INAUDIBLE]
00:35 I mean, especially my position in Kansas,
00:38 probably the most invested.
00:39 I mean, going on the field.
00:41 So just having Miles get that clear coach,
00:44 I mean, I can't ask for a better player to be there for you.
00:48 He said it was a pretty safe.
00:50 I mean, he's been with me.
00:52 I don't have to say anything about it.
00:54 Whatever you know, you can take from Miles.
00:56 You know what he's going to say.
00:58 He don't need to be afraid.
01:00 What impact did subject towards tackling
01:02 have on your team?
01:04 Jim made me a whole lot comfortable,
01:06 especially with his technique, because it's
01:08 something that I've done at college.
01:10 So I mean, he made it real plain and simple.
01:15 He made it simple.
01:15 That's the first thing we sat down and had a conversation
01:18 when we first got here.
01:19 He said, it's going to be real simple.
01:21 We're going to tackle.
01:22 We're not going to wait on anything.
01:25 We're not going to take the authority.
01:27 So when he said I can talk about it,
01:30 it kind of eased my worries a little bit
01:33 about working with my brother, B.
01:35 So I mean, it benefited us well, especially with these lines.
01:39 [INAUDIBLE]
01:49 [INAUDIBLE]
01:54 I feel like it's developed a lot,
01:55 but I still got a lot to work on.
01:58 I mean, you can see it, you know,
02:00 talking to Miles and me and our coaches,
02:02 like when you're out there on the field,
02:04 you got to start fulfilling.
02:05 It's like, the things that I can work on,
02:07 I'll tell you, I can still work on,
02:08 even if I get to the quarterback.
02:10 I'm out, and I get to the quarterback fast.
02:12 I think if I get to the quarterback,
02:14 you know, much more clean, I will.
02:15 So I mean, it's the fact, though,
02:17 you know, just chucking techniques
02:19 and, you know, it being repetitive,
02:21 you know, just sharpening my tools.
02:23 So I mean, it's just that, it's sharpening for me.
02:27 [INAUDIBLE]
02:37 I mean, it was just, it was different.
02:41 Like, I didn't know how to take the approach,
02:43 you know, in a way, just take the approach to,
02:45 you know, just the lifestyle, what I learned.
02:50 Of course, you know, it took me a while
02:52 to figure out everything that I thought I had to figure out.
02:55 But being in the middle, you learn a lot of stuff
02:59 that you thought you had to get to.
03:04 So just the fact of, you know, learning certain things,
03:07 certain new techniques, new terminology,
03:11 new techniques, stuff like that.
03:15 It took me a while to approach it.
03:18 So that goes for all the tools.
03:22 That was my main focus, especially going into the
03:25 [INAUDIBLE]
03:29 So I took that into the office, and I made that my main focus.
03:32 [INAUDIBLE]
03:44 I mean, it matters, like I said, you know,
03:46 it's just the next game.
03:47 But, you know, we've got the guys in this room,
03:48 you know, we trust each other.
03:50 So at the end of the day, we put together a great game
03:54 plan to go into Sunday.
03:56 I mean, just to go out there and, you know,
03:58 play against Cincinnati, just because, you know,
04:01 it's the next game, or you're not looking forward to,
04:03 you know, the playoffs or whatnot.
04:04 It's also, you know, it's the next game.
04:06 We don't care that it's the last game of the season.
04:08 We just look forward to that, you know,
04:10 we got to go win an ODIs league against Cincinnati.
04:12 [INAUDIBLE]
04:26 I mean, you guys speak the words to existence,
04:28 especially me personally, you know,
04:30 when Oboe and Moe was down.
04:33 It was the fact that the matter is, you know,
04:35 once the opportunity exists, I got to treat myself as this.
04:39 The flow cannot be messed up on the D-line when I throw.
04:41 So my thing is when I took it upon myself,
04:44 I had to, you know, take it very seriously.
04:46 And that's just the standard that we have
04:48 not only in the D-line, but as a defense in general.
04:50 So I mean, we also-- we all have a standard.
04:52 You always have it when you're ready,
04:54 no matter when your time is called.
04:55 So you never know.
04:57 So that's pretty much-- that's pretty much what we live by.
05:01 You know, we try to not lead by words.
05:05 We try to lead by examples and whatnot.
05:06 So we just speak to existence.
05:10 You know, we live by that.
05:13 [INAUDIBLE]
05:26 I mean, as soon as we heard that Oboe went down,
05:30 I automatically knew that I was going
05:32 to be the next person up.
05:33 So just talking to myself and, you know,
05:35 just motivate myself day in and day out.
05:38 It's like, OK, the opportunity is here.
05:39 You can wait for it.
05:41 You see what you have to do, what you need to do.
05:44 I just kept telling myself, the more, you know,
05:46 practice I'm on throughout the week,
05:48 the more confidence I got.
05:49 So when it started in Chicago, you know,
05:52 I started to make plays here and there.
05:53 And I just felt that confidence just shoot sky high.
05:57 So when he did that, it was just like, OK,
05:59 now I got to figure out how to keep this going.
06:01 And once I kept it going, now it's on its train.
06:04 I'm just-- same mentality in practice.
06:07 You know, just trying to figure out how to keep it going.
06:10 You stepped in for him.
06:11 Now you've got to establish yourself as a place
06:14 to see Oboe come back.
06:15 What are your thoughts on social media?
06:20 Man, Oboe is a true warrior.
06:23 People really don't-- if people on the outside looking
06:25 and really don't know Oboe, they just
06:26 see what goes on on social media and whatnot.
06:29 But Oboe is a gentle person.
06:31 He's a kind person.
06:33 He's a brother.
06:34 He's a hard worker.
06:35 So having him back in the room, not only--
06:38 there are more laughs in the room again.
06:40 Not saying there wasn't laughs before,
06:42 but just having him back in the room, it's good to see him back.
06:48 I feel it's really about [INAUDIBLE]
06:51 guys.
06:51 I've worked with guys extensively for a while.
06:56 When somebody else is a step in, some of those things
06:58 I started on a year later.
07:00 It's so obvious in your book that you're
07:02 trying to be [INAUDIBLE]
07:06 I mean, like I said, it's simple.
07:08 You don't have to think so much in his defense.
07:11 You don't have to react so much in his defense.
07:14 You don't have to ask so many questions in his defense.
07:16 It's just the fact that he make it real short and sweet for us.
07:20 So I mean, once it's short and sweet, we don't have to--
07:24 it prevents a lot of problems.
07:26 Let's say it prevents a lot of problems on the field
07:28 and practice.
07:30 You got to have your questions and stuff like that.
07:31 But as soon as we get on the field,
07:33 all those issues are solved.
07:34 So it's like it allows us to move around more freely
07:39 as a unit.
07:40 So I mean, once you move around as a unit,
07:44 everybody can play their best for the big.
07:46 No one is thinking.
07:48 It's just real simple.
07:51 Good.
07:53 (laughing)
