01:04 inspired her Billboard number one album, Pink Friday 2.

01:11 - Nicki Minaj stopped by Apple Music on Thursday
01:15 and spoke about how the emotional track
01:17 that opens Pink Friday 2, Are You Gone Already,
01:20 was inspired by the sudden loss of her father in 2021.
01:24 - I'm telling my father, "You never got to meet Papa."
01:26 And then I begin to explain the time
01:31 from my mother first calling me,
01:32 telling me he was in an accident,
01:34 to her calling me, telling me that he didn't make it.
01:37 - She said the track is one of the most personal
01:39 she has ever shared.
01:40 And when asked if she was scared to share it with fans,
01:43 she said it was so scary,
01:44 but has to reconcile the pros and cons.
01:48 - Why am I sharing this?
01:49 And how is it gonna make me feel?
01:52 Am I gonna be able to listen to this back
01:54 for the rest of my life?
01:55 - But she said it's her core fans that she's thinking of.
01:59 - I always feel I have to start somehow
02:03 by telling them what has been going on
02:05 so that they have a perspective.
02:07 - Elsewhere in the interview,
02:08 Nicki talked about working with Drake on "Needle"
02:11 and said the track was initially meant to appear
02:13 on "For All the Dogs," but there was a change of plans.
02:16 - He told the fans at his tour
02:19 that I was gonna be on his album.
02:22 And actually the song he was talking about was "Needle."
02:25 But he ended up feeling like sonically,
02:29 it didn't match "For All the Dogs,"
02:31 and I, from day one, felt like it matched "Pink Friday" too.
02:36 - 24KaratGolden dropped the first song
02:38 of his new era, "Good Intentions."
