00:00 Hey everyone, Christina Garbaldi here with the grand dame herself, Karen, from The Real Housewives
00:04 of Potomac. Thank you so much for stopping by the Housewives Happy Hour. So we have our wine,
00:09 I have some fun questions, so let's get right to it. So what is your favorite tagline of all time?
00:15 Can we change the question and say, what have I said most on TV that's been true for eight years?
00:20 People come for me all the time. They just don't find me. People come for me all the time.
00:24 They just don't find me. I should have made that. I was a rookie when I landed that. I was
00:29 my first year and I didn't know. It just comes to me when I'm sitting in the moment. I wish
00:34 I'd had it in my tagline. You do have some fabulous one-liners. This season is good.
00:38 On the fence. I own the fence. You ride me. That is my favorite because it's very challenging for
00:45 some of the girls. They're like, I don't understand it. Yes, you do. You ride me,
00:49 darling. You ride the fence. The fence is me. And many of the ladies have always jumped on board to
00:57 make Karen a part of their conversation or the moment. And I'm like, OK, I do not hump the fence
01:03 like you say. I am not Switzerland. I am the fence you choose to ride. So I own the fence.
01:09 Yes, you are the fence. I love that. What does it take to be a grand dame?
01:13 Honestly, it takes the fans supporting and loving you and really endorsing that. I will say that
01:19 Giselle called me the grand dame first. But she meant that we weren't in a great place at the time.
01:25 So she meant that to be shady like you. Oh, broad, you know, kind of thing. And I took it and ran
01:29 with it and made a business. La Dame Grand Dame. And no, you can't have it. It takes that fortitude.
01:34 It takes that commitment to shake off the insults. Totally. And turn it into a business. La Dame is
01:40 a dynasty, which is now turning into a little resort. I love it. I love that. Yeah. Yeah.
01:47 Everybody. Yeah. What is the shadiest thing someone do you in your opinion? What is the
01:54 shadiest thing someone has ever done to you on the show? It's so many. I know it's so many. Again,
02:02 hence I am the fence. They ride me. I want that moment with me. I couldn't name just one because
02:07 they are because I'm like Teflon. It just bounces off. So this shade doesn't really work on me
02:15 because I pivot and embrace it and make, you know, lemonade out of lemons. When you saw the sketch
02:23 last season for the first time, what was your reaction? How far away is it of the truth?
02:28 I don't know. Next. Next. I'm going to sit for that. Bravo did a comparison. Yep.
02:39 Next. What do you consider your messiest moment? When my wig shifted.
02:48 That was a mess. My glue melted. That was, but you know, when you, when that happens and then
02:54 I think many women who wear wigs, you know, should own it, you know? And so when it shifted, I just
03:00 was like, let me make a moment out of it because it wasn't the first time I wig shifted. It was
03:03 the first time I wig shifted on camera. And I'm like, well, let me show them how I really would
03:07 do it. And I locked that puppy down and kept it moving and created an RPG show. Ex LaDom. Now I
03:12 have my own wig line. You turn lemons into lemonade. Okay, honey, LaDom, keep pushing that.
03:18 And you do it on the spot, which is on the spot. If you could trade one of your Potomac Housewives
03:23 for another housewife on another franchise, who would it be? I wouldn't. Not right now. No,
03:28 not ever. Let's be very clear. We have the magic bullet. It's not perfect, but we're strong. We're
03:35 dynamic. I believe in these women, this core group of women that I just named a few minutes ago that
03:41 really pulled this through. Even Mia with her amnesia is needed. We're quirky. We're powerful.
03:50 We're intelligent. We're everything that when you turn the TV on, every woman can find one of us
03:57 that they can identify with. That's magic. Yeah, no, it's true. And you have such a core group. I
04:02 mean, so many of the ladies have been here since day one. Yeah, the OGs. I think four of us. Yeah.
04:08 And not a lot of other franchises. Yeah, they only won four for eight years. Is there anybody
04:13 that you would ever want to bring back? Not at all. Not at all. No, I'm kidding. I like Katie.
04:17 I love Katie. I've always said that Katie was a silent storm that's really intelligent. I would
04:24 love to have her back, except for Ray thinks she's gorgeous. And I might have her come in
04:28 limitedly because he really likes her. You saw her at that spring kickoff party. They had a good
04:36 old time. I had to pull him up. Right. That's true. I forgot. Oh, he was breaking down. I was
04:40 like, I don't need you, babe. Yes. And then finally, if you could go back and tell yourself
04:44 something, advice, day one of filming, what would it be? I wouldn't. Hmm. I have enjoyed my ride.
04:52 I know that sounds so crazy, but be open to growth. Be open to being more humble and vulnerable
05:00 because that's the key to reality TV. I just open up every, I open up more and more every year
05:06 and I enjoy it. Just be open to challenges. Every day is not going to be peachy, is scary.
05:14 Embrace it and turn lemons into lemonade. Definitely. Well, cheers to you and cheers
05:20 to this season. Thank you so much. Thank you for having me.
