With the Browns resting some starters, Jeff Driskel will most likely start at Quarterback on Sunday vs the Bengals.

00:00 Don't try to figure it out, right?
00:02 Just handle the moment.
00:04 That's what I've been doing the last five or six days.
00:06 And I'm just happy to be here.
00:08 [inaudible]
00:16 So I guess in such a short amount of time here,
00:18 has the transition been a little easier from a familiarity standpoint?
00:22 Yeah, I mean, as much as one offense to another,
00:26 there's probably not a much smoother transition terminology-wise.
00:31 Obviously, like somebody else calling it, new guys around you.
00:36 The bigger thing has been getting to know my teammates more than getting to know the system,
00:40 which I think is a good thing.
00:42 Jeff, I changed my mind.
00:45 [inaudible]
00:51 I didn't know what was going to happen.
00:53 But when you get an opportunity to get on a 53-man roster, you take it.
00:57 That's typically the fastest path to the field.
01:00 And that's what my thought process was.
01:03 So I came here, had a chance to get on a 53,
01:06 and looking forward to the opportunity on Sunday.
01:09 [inaudible]
01:17 Yeah, I mean, it was the same message that everybody got.
01:19 Like, we're going to go out and try to win this game.
01:21 And that's what we've been doing all week.
01:23 We've been working hard, getting to know our opponent, getting to know the game plan.
01:27 But that's really been the message is go try to win football games.
01:30 [inaudible]
01:41 Yeah, I mean, I mentioned earlier, like, this is the NFL.
01:45 Like, things happen.
01:47 My family thinks it's crazier than, you know, my teammates.
01:51 Teammates see people in buildings all the time.
01:53 There's new people in every building every week.
01:55 And that's just the name of the game.
01:57 But, yeah, just trying to get to know these guys on offense and defense.
02:01 And it's a really good group of guys.
02:03 Happy to be with.
02:05 [inaudible]
02:13 Yeah, I mean, the level of familiarity is huge.
02:17 You know, seeing a face that you recognize and, you know, that you've worked with is comforting.
02:23 So it's been good to get back with him and be in the room with him.
02:27 So it's been really good.
02:28 [inaudible]
02:36 Yeah, it's like you said, from the outside, you don't really know much.
02:41 You know, you see guys go down, you see a different guy in there, you know, throughout the season.
02:46 And it's difficult, you know.
02:47 You see teams where, you know, a key player goes down and it derails the season.
02:52 And it's been the opposite here.
02:54 And I think it's, you know, it's the way that the culture was built here, the way that the roster was built here.
02:59 There really is a full team.
03:00 And, you know, that's what it takes to be successful.
03:03 [inaudible]
03:13 Yeah, I mean, all weeks are hard, right?
03:15 Like there's a lot thrown at you week in and week out.
03:19 So, I mean, it's a little bit of a challenge, you know, getting to, you know, meet people for the first time,
03:24 shake their hand, and then go play with them.
03:26 So that's a little bit different.
03:28 But, yeah, I mean, it's a really good defense.
03:30 You know, we've watched a lot of tape on them.
03:33 You know, the staff and the other guys here know them a little bit better than I do just from playing in the last few years.
03:39 But, yeah, it's a challenge.
03:40 But that's been a challenge every week.
03:42 [inaudible]
03:47 Yeah, I heard that.
03:48 That's an interesting stat.
03:49 I'm surprised that that's a thing.
03:51 But, yeah, I heard that, whatever that means.
03:54 Yeah.
03:55 Yeah.
03:56 All right.
03:57 [inaudible]
03:59 I do.
04:00 I do.
04:01 I remember it well.
04:05 Came in, yeah, something happened in his hand.
04:08 I threw a touchdown on the seam to Tyler Boyd, and he proceeded to throw my first touchdown ball in the stands.
04:13 [laughter]
04:16 You know, I looked around.
04:18 I asked the ref.
04:19 I was like, "Where's the ball?"
04:20 He's like, "I don't know."
04:21 [inaudible]
04:23 Yeah, I think it was from about this far away.
04:25 But, yeah.
04:27 No, no, not that one.
04:28 [inaudible]
04:34 No, no, I hadn't worked with him before.
04:36 But he was in Denver the year before I was there.
04:39 And Brett Rippin and Drew Locke, you know, said really good things about him.
04:45 And Walter, you know, he's a man.
04:48 [inaudible]
04:56 Yeah, it's huge.
04:57 He was, you know, out of football the whole year, you know, just living, you know, relatively civilian life.
05:03 Coming in here, getting back into the swing of the NFL building, NFL season, and getting dressed in pretty quickly.
05:10 It's been fun to watch from the outside.
05:13 But, you know, being here and seeing it, I'm not surprised.
05:17 [inaudible]
05:33 Yeah, I mean, there's a reason that, you know, the record is what it is.
05:37 Obviously, it's a talented group.
05:38 But, like you mentioned, really tight-knit group, really good guys across the board.
05:43 And, you know, you need that over the course of the season.
05:48 I don't think so.
05:49 I mean, every player in this league, like, their resume is what they put on the field.
05:55 But, you know, we're worried about winning this game.
05:57 And that's all I'm worried about.
05:59 If I start thinking about stuff down the line, you know, whether this year or years to come, you know, I would be doing this team a disservice.
06:06 [inaudible]
06:10 Yes.
06:12 Yeah.
06:13 [inaudible]
06:15 Yeah, tough.
06:17 Tough defense, right?
06:18 Like, good schematically, you know, good physically, and really deep unit.
06:24 So, there's a reason they're at the top of the league, you know, in terms of team defense.
06:28 [inaudible]
06:34 You know, like, I was up.
06:36 That was the one year this year that I was elevated from the practice squad.
06:40 I mean, I had the mindset that I'm one snap away, you know, and that's reality.
06:44 So, I was prepared to play.
06:45 I didn't know what was going to happen.
06:47 But, yeah.
06:48 [inaudible]
07:11 But, you know, just like to every other thing to him is just be a good teammate.
07:17 [inaudible]
07:20 Yeah, I mean, you got to feel it out, right?
07:22 Like, you got to just, you know, see what he likes, you know, how the communication goes in the sideline.
07:27 And sometimes guys like to talk it out.
07:30 Sometimes they just like to play.
07:31 So, I'm going to do what I can to just be a good teammate.
07:37 Thanks, guys.
07:38 Nice to meet everybody.
