Ice cream is the best solution to any hot day - not only does it help cool you down, but it's also delicious. Luckily, Toronto is filled with spots to grab the cool dessert and they are spread out around the city. But which places are actually worth the lineup? Narcity's Mira Nabulsi checked out Nani's Gelato, Bang Bang Ice Cream & Bakery and Mizzica Gelateria & Cafe to find out which spot is tops in the 6ix and one of them definitely has her going back for more.

00:00 I literally don't know what to do because it's all over my hand. Oh god, oh my god, this is so sticky.
00:07 Hey Toronto, I'm Mirna Bosi for Nerd City Canada and today I'm checking out three ice cream spots
00:14 that you say are the best. I'm going to tell you which one is actually worth standing in line for.
00:20 Come with me and let's check them out. First on the list is Nanny's Gelato located on Charles
00:26 and Young Street. This local spot has a rotating ice cream menu that changes every two weeks.
00:32 When I went they had flavors like red cherry, salted caramel and pistachio. You can also buy
00:38 ice cream in pints but I got a scoop with two of their most popular flavors, salted dark chocolate
00:44 chip and brown butter pecan. This is okay, it's melting at an unprecedented rate and I literally
00:54 don't know what to do because it's all over my hand. Even though it tasted great, the experience
01:01 was an absolute disaster. The ice cream was melting all over the place and the one tissue I was given
01:06 dissolved into oblivion. Things got so messy, the ice cream was turning into soup and I couldn't get
01:12 a taste of each flavor because they made a completely new one. But the cone was delicious,
01:18 crunchy and sweet at the same time. I just wish I had more time to eat it and somewhere to eat it
01:23 out. There was nowhere to sit outside the gelato shop which made the experience a lot shorter than
01:28 I hoped it would be and it would have been great to sit outside to take a handle of the ice cream.
01:34 I paid eight dollars and four cents for one scoop of two flavors in a cone but overall I would give
01:39 Nanny's a five out of ten because even though it was good, it was really a struggle. I walked over
01:45 to the closest shopper's drug mart to find wipes to clean myself with because going to the next
01:50 ice cream spot would have been a disaster if I was covered in Nanny's ice cream. After five minutes of
01:56 whining, crying and cleaning, I finally got presentable enough to continue on with my taste
02:02 test and I've got a whole pack of wipes this time in case this happens again which spoiler alert,
02:07 it does. Mizika Gelateria is located on 307 Queen Street West and every time I passed it after work
02:15 there was a line that wrapped around the corner. They have so many flavors to choose from including
02:20 pesca, dark chocolate, wild berry cheesecake, biscotti and so much more. I got one of their
02:27 most popular flavors, the Bacio. I'm in love with any sort of hazelnut chocolate and this
02:33 was this perfect scoop. The creaminess was great, it didn't melt at an unprecedented rate.
02:39 I was able to control it a bit this time. The cone was crunchy too and it was great when combined
02:47 with the ice cream. They also had options to choose from but I just went for the basic one.
02:51 They did have an indoor and outdoor seating area which made this like a perfect summer date spot.
02:57 Okay, Mizika Gelateria is fantabulous and delicious. If you haven't been, you should go.
03:06 It is definitely worth the line. It was $7.22 for the price of the ice cream with the cone and there
03:13 was somewhere to sit. So I really appreciated that. I loved the experience. I sat down, enjoyed my ice
03:18 cream. It was melting but it melted on the table and not onto my dress. Anyways, I give this place
03:24 a 10 out of 10. I said it. Bang Bang Ice Cream is on 93 Ossington Avenue and since I can remember
03:31 this place has always had a lineup even when I went on a Friday afternoon. Bang Bang has a lot
03:36 of ice cream options to choose from but they told me their best seller was the burnt toffee and I
03:41 was surprised at how much I actually liked it. You can also pair your ice cream with cookies but I
03:45 chose their simplest sugar cone. The ice cream had caramel hints, a crunch and a creamy base that made
03:51 the overall experience crave-worthy. The ice cream did melt fast but it was manageable and it made it
03:57 more delicious as it got softer. Is that weird? It was just better when it was softer. Okay, now we're
04:03 gonna give the cone a try. Not my favorite. So I just tried Bang Bang and even though I've never had
04:15 burnt toffee before, I loved it. It was so good. I did not expect that to be the flavor of the ice
04:22 cream and the added crunch made the experience a lot more fun but I'm not a fan of the cone. I'm
04:27 not gonna lie, it tasted a bit stale for my liking. It was the cheapest, it was six dollars with tip
04:33 and the experience was alright. It was pretty fast even though there was a lineup. There was nowhere
04:39 to sit. So for all of the above, I give this place an overall rating of seven out of ten.
04:44 Alright Toronto, we got to the end of our taste test and thankfully so because I'm so sticky I
04:51 literally need to go home and just shower but also eat a salad because having three ice creams in one
04:56 day is not great, especially when it's melting all over the place. But we all know the winner
05:00 here is Mizika Gelateria. That's not to say that the others weren't fantastic. They were great,
05:07 they just weren't my favorites in this taste test but make sure to check them out. They're spread
05:11 out throughout the city. Let me know in the comments what you think about my taste test
05:15 and whether you agree. I'm Miriam DeBose for Narcity Canada.
