00:08 David, here in front of you, I watched the 50 Years of Service.
00:10 Talk a bit about how you started and your journey over the last 50 years.
00:14 Well, I started as a darkroom boy, really, on the Telegraph in 1973.
00:22 I did six months in the darkroom and then they gave me a camera and I ain't stopped since.
00:29 I must admit it's been a privilege to cover the development of Peterborough over the last 50 years.
00:37 To a certain extent it's part of the history.
00:40 The work that I've done is part of the history of the city.
00:44 So, yeah, it's been a privilege.
00:47 There can't be much that's happened in Peterborough over the last 50 years that you haven't seen and taken a picture of.
00:52 Yeah, well, if I've missed something, I never told anybody about it.
00:55 But, yeah, I mean, raw visits, disasters.
01:00 It doesn't seem 50 years, I must say, but, yeah, it's been good fun.
01:07 Thanks, Duffer. I must say, what's your reaction to seeing yourself there and Nathan actually doing the artwork?
01:11 Well, to tell you the truth, I got a text from Pep Zipriano, who's the sort of city centre marketing guy,
01:19 and I thought somebody had been mucking around on Photoshop.
01:24 I didn't believe it until I actually drove up and saw it.
01:27 I mean, it's just absolutely fantastic.
01:29 I think he's caught the moment, as they say, I think.
01:35 So, it was instigated by Carly before she left.
01:43 She messaged me and said, "Oh, I want to mortalise David for his 50 years of service. Could you do it?"
01:50 I was like, "Yeah, yeah." As I've got to know Dave over the last few years, I said, "Yeah, no problem at all."
01:54 I was like, "Have we got a location?"
01:56 We went back to the council. The council took a little bit of time to get us somewhere,
02:01 and then it come in literally November, December, "Oh, yeah, you can use this location."
02:06 And then I chose the sort of starry background because Dave's interested in stars.
02:11 I don't know the true terminology there, but that's where the idea kind of comes from.
02:17 I guess there's a few words to describe David's 50 years of service in the industry.
02:21 That's very impressive.
02:23 Yeah, that's it. It's something that should be celebrated.
02:26 I would always say we should do more to celebrate local people.
