Andrei Iosivas on Bengals' Offense, Jake Browning, Not Having Ja'Marr Chase
Transcript
00:00 In the Bengals locker room with Andre Josavash. Andre, obviously it's a huge game on Saturday against the team you faced less than a month ago.
00:07 What stands out about the Steelers defense?
00:09 You know, they play hard. The Steelers history, I've been an AFC, well I've been a Colts fan for a long time, but I know about the Steelers, even though they're in a different division.
00:22 They play hard, they play tough, super downhill, and they make plays when the ball comes to them too, so you always have to be on them when you're playing them.
00:29 Going on the road to play them, I think everybody I talk to talks about AFC North, how tough it is. You haven't played in Pittsburgh yet. What are you expecting?
00:38 I mean, you know, I've been playing how many games now, so obviously this game means a lot as an AFC North game, but it's just like any other game.
00:46 You prepare any other way and you play it like any other game just because it's the game on your schedule.
00:51 If Jamar is out, and we don't know as of now, but if he is out, how does your role change? How does Charlie's role change in mindset going into the game?
01:00 Yeah, I mean, every week you prepare like you're going to play regardless, so you know, these past how many weeks I've been the backup, but I always prepare like I'm going to play.
01:08 And worst case scenario, Jamar gets injured or is not able to play, I get to step in like I did in the fourth quarter of Minnesota, so we're always ready to go whenever our name is called.
01:17 And Troy always makes sure he gets us ready, you know, being first years and you know, he knows the stage is different for us.
01:23 How has this offense evolved over the past three weeks, really, since you played the Steelers the first time?
01:28 Because obviously you're 3-0, you guys are averaging 32 plus points per game.
01:32 Yeah, I mean, you know, it's all us just following Jake's lead, just him getting comfortable and you know, just giving us opportunities to make plays.
01:39 And you see that with how many yards he's putting up per game.
01:42 How would you describe Jake Browning?
01:45 Cool, calm and collected, people's man, you know, he's like, I forget what Roman Emperor it was, but he's like that emperor that eats with the soldiers in the cafeteria type of deal, you know what I mean?
01:56 Like he's super down to earth, just a great guy.
01:58 Did you know that about him before he got in or is it more recent?
02:02 I mean, I've heard of him before, I didn't know him, but you know, during OTAs and stuff and camp, you know, we would take a lot of reps together too, so just getting to know him from there, I knew he was a super chill guy.
02:12 Has he exceeded your expectations over the past three weeks?
02:15 I don't know about exceed, I mean, I knew he was really good, so seeing it in real life is cool, but yeah, I'm not super surprised, I would say, yeah.
02:25 The thing that gets me, at least in news conferences, is his whole deadpan, whole tell a joke, he's not smiling at all. Does he do that with you guys?
02:32 That's kind of his humor, you know, it's kind of like the office humor, you know, if you like the office, you probably think he's really funny, so yeah.
