One in eight women is affected by breast cancer, including Giuliana Rancic. As a survivor, it's immensely important to her to support others in finding the strength to fight and work to find a cure. In her 12th year cancer-free, she's proudly teamed up with Avocados From Mexico for the Avocados From Mexico Cure Bowl, the annual American college football bowl game benefitting breast cancer research. Since avocados are a naturally nutrient-rich superfood and an essential part of a healthy routine and lifestyle, it's a perfect partnership. We caught up with Rancic to tell us all about it, how she's going to be at the game to rally with other survivors, and, of course, how she incorporates this healthy fruit and other healthy regimens into her life every single day. Follow along on social @avocadosfrommexico and get in the conversation using #SuperGoodRally, and go to avocadosfrommexico.com for recipes and tips.

00:02 - My husband and I have a lot of restaurants actually.
00:10 We're about to open our ninth restaurant,
00:12 which is really exciting, called RPM Italian.
00:15 Well, we started with the RPM brand.
00:17 We've done like seafood and steak.
00:19 We have another concept called Pizzeria Portofino,
00:22 and it's evolved into different states as well,
00:25 which is really exciting.
00:27 So we're very focused on that.
00:29 We also have a Prosecco called Giuliana Prosecco
00:32 that's been growing very fast and is very exciting.
00:37 But most of my days, to be honest,
00:40 are spent on my clothing line.
00:42 I have a clothing line on the Home Shopping Network,
00:44 on HSN, called G by Giuliana.
00:46 So day in, day out, I'm working on that line.
00:49 We put out about 15 collections a year,
00:52 and we just launched my mom's Italian food line
00:56 called Mama De Pandi.
00:58 It's all Italian food.
00:59 It's delicious.
01:00 It's also on HSN.
01:01 So yeah, I've been keeping very busy balancing work
01:06 with our family life, of course,
01:09 and our son, Duke, is doing great.
01:11 He's 11 years old now, and he's almost my height.
01:15 He's my buddy, so we have so much fun together,
01:18 me, Duke, and Bill.
01:19 And I will tell you, one of my favorite things
01:22 that I've been working on right now
01:23 is partnering with Avocados for Mexico,
01:26 getting ready for the Cure Bowl.
01:28 That's a college football game
01:29 that happens in Orlando, Florida,
01:31 and it benefits cancer research.
01:33 So as a breast cancer survivor,
01:36 that's a very, very near and dear cause to my heart.
01:39 So it's gonna be great.
01:41 Kickoff is at 3.30 Eastern.
01:43 You can actually watch it.
01:44 It's gonna be on ABC.
01:46 But before that, I'm doing something that is so exciting.
01:50 It's actually called the Super Good Rally.
01:52 So I'm gonna be there at the stadium
01:54 along with other survivors and thrivers.
01:57 We're gonna be making signs
01:59 for women who are going through breast cancer
02:01 to just let them know you've got this
02:03 and let them know that we support them.
02:05 That was a really big part of my journey
02:08 was hearing from other survivors,
02:10 getting that encouragement from them,
02:12 that love and support from them.
02:14 Those words just really went a long way,
02:17 and so we wanna be able to pay it forward
02:20 and let other women know that we're rallying for them.
02:23 So we're gonna be doing that before the big game.
02:25 And then during the game,
02:27 we're gonna be with the Avocados for Mexico team.
02:30 We're gonna have a guacamole bar at the stadium
02:34 'cause, you know, football and guacamole go hand in hand.
02:38 So it's gonna be a great time on Saturday.
02:40 I was diagnosed with breast cancer at a young age.
02:44 I was 36 years old,
02:46 and I had no family history of breast cancer.
02:48 I mean, it was just the shock of a lifetime.
02:50 So as I celebrate my 12th year anniversary,
02:55 this week, actually, I think looking back,
02:59 it was such a difficult thing to go through,
03:03 especially those first few years.
03:04 And I remember feeling like, oh my gosh,
03:07 like this is the rest of my life.
03:08 I'm just gonna think about breast cancer
03:09 a hundred times a day, a thousand times a day.
03:12 But I will say, you know,
03:14 something that really helped me is four words.
03:16 This too shall pass.
03:18 And it's so true.
03:19 It's like, I just remember,
03:21 I just hung on to those words and I'm like,
03:23 it's not always gonna be like this.
03:24 This is just a chapter in your life.
03:28 You're gonna get through this.
03:29 I started making a lot of changes
03:31 because there were a lot of things I couldn't control,
03:33 like getting diagnosed with breast cancer.
03:35 And then I started making changes
03:37 to things I could control,
03:39 like what I was putting on my skin,
03:42 what I was putting into my body.
03:44 So that's one thing I think that I have maintained
03:49 is a healthier lifestyle.
03:51 I take at least a half hour walk every day, if not more.
03:56 You know, I eat healthy foods.
04:00 And yeah, I definitely don't take any time for granted.
04:03 That's for sure.
04:05 You know, time with my husband,
04:06 time with my son, together as a family.
04:10 So that's all really important to me as well, obviously.
04:13 So yeah, you know, as my husband, Bill, always says,
04:16 when you go through something like this,
04:17 it really turns the volume down
04:21 on the things that don't matter.
04:23 And it turns the volume up on the things that do matter.
04:26 I definitely, very aware of that.
04:28 And I know what really matters in life.
04:31 Well, one of the reasons I wanted to partner
04:32 with Avocados for Mexico
04:34 is because I love Avocados for Mexico.
04:37 Okay, let's just throw that out there right now.
04:39 I eat avocado three to five days a week.
04:44 I love avocados.
04:45 I always have a bowl of them in my kitchen.
04:48 So the easiest way, or probably the way I eat them the most,
04:52 I will tell you, is every day for lunch,
04:54 almost literally every single day,
04:56 I have a bagel, a toasted bagel with sliced avocado.
05:00 I drizzle olive oil, a little salt and pepper,
05:02 and it is like the most delicious, quick and easy lunch.
05:06 I also add avocados to my salads.
05:09 I make, you know, I add avocados to sandwiches.
05:11 I put half an avocado in a lot of my smoothies
05:14 because avocados are a superfood.
05:17 They are packed with 20 vitamins and nutrients.
05:20 They're one of the easiest ways
05:21 to just, you know, incorporate a new food.
05:24 Like, for instance, if you're not eating a lot of avocado,
05:26 it's a great way to incorporate this fruit
05:28 into your healthy lifestyle.
05:31 So for people trying to make a change,
05:33 trying to eat healthier, trying to eat better foods,
05:36 like superfoods, avocado is definitely the way to go.
05:40 So easy to learn more.
05:41 All you have to do is go to avocadosformexico.com,
05:44 or you can even follow Avocados for Mexico on Instagram
05:47 and get in on the conversation.
05:49 Use the hashtag #supergoodrally
05:51 and let us know who you're rallying for in your life.
05:54 So, you know, if you can't be at the game in Orlando,
05:58 you can still be involved and be part of this terrific cause.
06:03 So those are some of the ways to get involved.
