00:02 >> I think you'll get Demzel back this week.
00:05 >> That's the goal, obviously.
00:06 I said it in my, after the game last week,
00:09 just seeing how hard he's worked to get back.
00:11 So definitely getting him back would definitely give us a boost for sure.
00:15 [BLANK_AUDIO]
00:17 >> Hey Greg, when you watch Fields, what really jumps out at you?
00:23 >> He's a great player.
00:24 I think he gets a lot of critique from the media and things like that, but
00:27 he's a great player.
00:28 I've been playing him since college.
00:30 He can make every single throw, has a strong arm.
00:33 He runs like a running back.
00:35 He kind of reminds me of Cam Newton's style of being able to be a physical
00:39 runner, but can also make a bunch of throws.
00:40 So I think he definitely gets a lot of critique, but
00:43 I think he's also a great young player too.
00:45 >> Does that help you when you're prepping for a quarterback,
00:48 when you're facing a guy that you got to see at college?
00:51 >> For sure, just being able to get some extra reps on him,
00:55 knowing what he likes, knowing what he doesn't like.
00:57 I mean, just seeing the evolution from him in college is also fun to watch as well.
01:01 >> DJ Morris, what makes him so tough?
01:04 >> He can run every single route.
01:06 He's kind of built like a Debo where he's real stocky.
01:09 Then he also can run great routes as well.
01:11 So he's definitely a guy that makes a lot of his plays after the catch as well.
01:15 So we have to do a great job tackling him when he does get some catches.
01:19 >> Greg, you guys have been so good, specifically after Sunday's game,
01:26 does that help your pressure on this game because you guys got an opportunity or
01:31 [INAUDIBLE] >> For sure, I say it all the time,
01:33 the home crowd is our 12th man.
01:36 They do so much for us out there.
01:38 And it was definitely great to get back out there after losing two straights,
01:41 to get out there and get in front of the home crowd.
01:43 And just feel the energy that they brought, and
01:46 we're hoping they bring that again this Sunday.
01:47 >> How are you guys [INAUDIBLE]
01:50 >> Yeah, we don't become,
01:55 we're never complacent.
02:00 And the thing we expect to make those plays and things like that,
02:03 games that we're playing very well, we expect to do that.
02:06 So it's easy to move on to the next game when you're expected, and
02:10 we're forced to make those plays and play well.
02:13 So it's easy to just move on to the next one and
02:17 try to go one another next week.
02:18 >> [INAUDIBLE]
02:28 >> It's amazing.
02:33 Just even from last year, just seeing him just evolve and
02:37 become a number one corner, it's amazing to see.
02:41 We expect that out of him each and every week.
02:44 Like we said, man, there's gonna be games where I won't play well,
02:47 he won't play well.
02:48 But the ability to be resilient and bounce back and
02:50 make a Hall of Fame type of performance last week was just amazing to see.
02:55 >> You said you might not have Grant Hill, but what does that do to you guys?
03:01 >> Man, Grant Hill does a lot for us.
03:03 Obviously, with the contract extension that already showed you
03:07 what everybody in the building feels about him.
03:08 And that shows you what we feel about him.
03:10 He's a hard-nosed player.
03:12 He sets the tone for us, especially with his physicality, his leadership.
03:16 So just hoping we get him back out there too.
03:19 >> [INAUDIBLE]
03:21 >> I thought they played amazing.
03:33 I mean, just single and first on Ronnie Hickman.
03:36 You guys seen it out there, he made a crucial stop.
03:39 He's playing physical, playing very instinctive.
03:42 And whoever's out there, obviously, missing guys like Juan,
03:46 who wasn't able to play out there, and Grant, and then Rod, obviously, out for
03:50 the season, that's a big toll on us.
03:52 But you got young guys that have been learning from those vets.
03:55 And when the opportunity came, they rose up to the challenge.
03:59 >> Correct, playing in a defensive backfield,
04:02 because of the way the rule book is written, the way the game is officiated
04:06 these days, why have you guys been able to be, I guess, as aggressive and
04:13 successful with your aggressiveness without hurting the team?
04:17 >> Yeah, we know some of those calls are 50/50, some of them won't go our way.
04:22 But Coach Schwartz literally tells us, like, because first down,
04:27 obviously, on crucial downs, you gotta play a little bit.
04:29 On third downs, where if you do get a holding penalty, they'll get a first down.
04:33 But on those first downs, you gotta set the tone.
04:36 So you set the tone early, and then later in the game,
04:39 the refs, they might give you some of them later in the game.
04:43 So we just try to set the tone early with the physicality.
04:46 >> Greg, how proud are you of the way you bounced back after that Denver game?
04:49 It probably wasn't your best, but then you come back twice to get it.
04:53 >> I mean, I'm definitely proud of myself.
04:56 Like I said, [LAUGH] like I said, corners, it's the toughest position in sports.
05:02 And sometimes you get beat, that's fine.
05:04 But I know what type of player I am.
05:06 My teammates know what type of player I am.
05:08 So I wasn't really too worried about that type of performance,
05:11 cuz they knew that I bounced back.
05:12 Coach Schwartz told me after the game, in the meeting in front of the whole defense,
05:16 was like, Greg probably didn't play his best game, but he'll bounce back.
05:19 Like, he wasn't worried about that.
05:20 So I'm definitely proud of myself.
05:22 But I mean, that's what I expect out of myself.
05:24 >> And I think it looks like the Bears aren't on receiver screens, right?
05:27 Like stuff that, so does that challenge you guys as corners that come up and
05:31 make tackles?
05:32 >> For sure.
05:33 Like we say every week, this has gotta be our best tackling week.
05:37 Definitely at the corner position, DJ Moore, great receiver.
05:41 Yars after the catch is what he specializes in, so we have to do a great job.
05:45 I mean, containing him after the catch.
05:47 >> Greg, you guys obviously had the next man of the tally all season.
05:51 But as you go from showing injuries, guys coming in to face us kind of week to week,
05:56 what are those conversations like that have made you guys so
05:59 focused on communicating visceral, how it's been sort of almost flawless
06:04 throughout the most of the season, you know how guys are kind of feeling?
06:08 >> Yeah, I think it's just a belief.
06:10 I mean, teams always say next man up, but
06:12 who actually truly believes in the next man up?
06:15 We actually believe in our guys.
06:17 As you can see, when Ronnie was out there playing, D-Bell was out there playing,
06:21 we didn't change the scheme.
06:23 We're not gonna run some else just to cater to them.
06:25 No, they're ball players as well.
06:26 So we trust in our guys.
06:28 I think that's the biggest difference.
06:30 >> Have you gotten to know Joe Blackwell at all in the last few weeks?
06:33 He's been here.
06:34 >> Kind of.
06:35 He's kind of by me like in the locker room, but
06:38 didn't really get to know him too much, but he's been doing great for us.
06:42 >> And what's kind of, I mean, he's the story of the town, right?
06:45 What's he kind of, the hope he's provided or kind of calm it down?
06:49 How would you describe his influence?
06:51 >> Yeah, just a leader who's been there and done it all.
06:55 He's gotten teams to the playoffs.
06:58 Just the poise he plays with, the ability to, if he makes a mistake,
07:02 being able to bounce back and just all that positive vibes he brings to
07:06 this organization.
07:08 >> There's been so much, Kevin has had to deal with this head coach.
07:13 And what influence has he had on you guys and
07:20 how has his, I guess, non-emotional reaction to most things,
07:26 especially the negative stuff, benefited you guys?
07:31 >> Players coach, that's the biggest thing I can say.
07:34 Whether someone makes a mistake or not, he always takes it on himself and
07:39 things like that.
07:39 So just being an ultimate players coach, trusting in us to go out there and
07:43 make plays, just everything.
07:45 He gets a lot of scrutiny in the media as well, but for us to be down so much and
07:50 for guys to keep stepping up, he's done an amazing job for us.
07:54 >> Thanks, Coach.
07:56 >> Yep, appreciate it.
