00:24 Some of the under-19 teams in Eastern Pangasinan competed for a spot in the NBTC North Luzon Regional Championship next year.

00:34 The host of the competition was none other than two-time PBA Most Valuable Player Danny Ildefonso.

00:42 Aside from using his own covered court,

00:45 Lacay-Danny also paid the tournament fee for the talented players.

00:50 Known as the Ilocano Basketball Icon, this is his way to help the next generation of basketball players in the country.

00:59 I came from a public school. I know how hard it is for the kids.

01:03 I know the students. I'm sorry to say, there's no support.

01:10 So we just said, "It's a good thing my wife wants to do that."

01:15 That's why I founded the Danny Ildefonso Sports Foundation.

01:19 Ildefonso became emotional when he shared why he decided to build his own basketball court in Ordaneta.

01:28 I don't have anyone to share with my fellow countrymen.

01:33 So I built my own court so I can do what I want.

01:37 I want to do what I want.

01:39 This is really not helping anyone.

01:42 This is all mine.

01:44 And of course, it's God's help.

01:46 This December, the NBTC U19 Regional Qualifiers will end.

01:51 I will face the champions from different parts of Northern Luzon.

01:57 In March, the NBTC Grand Finals will take place.

02:01 The winners of the U19 squads from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao will face off.
