00:00 >> Ryan, there was a 14-0 team conference champion left out.
00:05 And I think there's a lot of people around the country that are a little worked up
00:07 about that.
00:08 As a head coach who prioritizes win at all costs,
00:12 to know that that ultimately wasn't enough to get a team in the playoff,
00:16 how does that sit with you?
00:17 >> I just, coming off of our game that we didn't finish it out the right way,
00:26 then that's what I've been focused on.
00:28 I haven't really got too much involved with it.
00:30 I've always felt like conference champ deserves to be in the final four.
00:37 But I guess this is the last year of that.
00:39 But I'm probably not gonna get into all that right now,
00:44 just got my team to worry about.
00:45 >> As you consider future non-conference games,
00:52 do you think that it is still an incentive to play major teams?
00:58 Like for example, this year Notre Dame or
01:00 the games you have on the schedule against Alabama, Texas and Georgia.
01:04 Do you think there is still incentive to schedule those kinds of games given
01:08 the changes in college football?
01:09 >> Yeah, I think now that you have a 12 team playoff, for sure it does.
01:12 I think that's probably the biggest change coming forward,
01:19 is that those games are gonna matter.
01:21 But at the same time, you can build up your team and you can learn from your team
01:26 by challenging your team with non-conference opponents like that.
01:29 But also knowing that you'll have an opportunity to possibly make the 12 teams
01:32 as opposed to just the final four.
01:34 As you can see, it got really tight this year.
01:36 So I think it's gonna be a whole different end of the season next year.
01:44 But I think it's great to challenge your team, find out where you're at and
01:47 grow as the season goes on.
01:51 We did that this year by scheduling Notre Dame,
01:53 which I thought was great the last two years.
01:55 And I think we learned a lot about our team early in the season.
01:58 But yeah, it'll be much different next year.
02:01 I think it's a good thing.
