00:00 An Australian vlogger was scammed by a tricycle driver in Manila.
00:05 He was charged with a small trip of P550.
00:10 The vlogger did not complain about the tricycle driver but he was arrested for traffic violation.
00:16 It was also discovered that the tricycle driver does not have a license and is a fraud.
00:22 First news is from Darlene Cai.
00:27 I was scammed by a tricycle driver here in Manila.
00:30 That's what happened to Dwayne Woolley, an Australian vlogger who lives here in the Philippines.
00:35 He told us in his vlog that he checked in at a hotel in Ermita on October 22.
00:40 He went out to go to a nearby mall.
00:43 Someone approached me.
00:45 How much for the Robinson's?
00:47 Only P50?
00:49 While he was traveling, the tricycle stopped twice to be driven by a woman and a man who is a driver.
00:56 Later, the tricycle was suddenly broken.
00:59 And they're trying to work out what happened to his motorcycle.
01:03 I said, "I'll just pay for it."
01:05 So I pulled out a hundred pesos and I gave it to him.
01:08 I started to walk away.
01:10 The trike driver called out to me and said, "Sir, P550."
01:14 I turned around and said, "What?"
01:16 He said, "P550."
01:19 I was like, "P550?"
01:22 He said, "Yes, sir. Yes, sir."
01:24 He only demanded P50 from the tricycle driver before he got in the car.
01:29 But the three friends helped each other by saying, "P550 is the real price."
01:37 He approached the guard of the nearby drugstore to ask for help.
01:41 Being a guard, they said that it's too expensive to ask for P550.
01:46 But the tricycle driver and the woman still followed him.
01:50 Until the town agreed to add more.
01:53 How much?
01:54 Just P200?
01:57 P200?
01:58 P300.
01:59 Just P200?
02:00 Because the guards said that it's just P50.
02:03 You said P50.
02:05 If I reach P50, I'll ask for P250.
02:07 P200?
02:10 P200.
02:11 P300?
02:12 P300.
02:13 That's enough for the tricycle.
02:14 P200?
02:16 P200.
02:17 P300.
02:18 In the end, they agreed to P250.
02:22 Duane said that he couldn't report to the police
02:26 because he thought that the tricycle drivers have the right to price how much they want.
02:31 After more than a month, the tricycle driver was arrested by the motorists who followed the scam to Duane.
02:38 He was introduced to Joselito Ortiz.
02:41 They saw our suspect, Joselito Ortiz.
02:47 While he was in the red light, Joselito Ortiz passed by.
02:53 He was stopped by the traffic enforcer.
02:55 Then he was searched for his license and his tricycle registration.
03:03 It was discovered that Ortiz's tricycle doesn't have a license and a license plate.
03:08 We found out that this person is also the one who was involved in the viral video of the Australian citizen who rode a tricycle.
03:24 Based on the viral video, he looks like him.
03:28 Ortiz admitted that he's the tricycle driver in the viral vlog.
03:33 I just needed to go to the hospital because my son was in the hospital.
03:38 It's true.
03:40 He admitted that the price of the massage was only P50.
03:45 It's really P50.
03:47 When I was with him, he asked for P550.
03:50 I asked for a suspension for him.
03:53 I hope he will forgive me.
03:55 He also admitted that he doesn't have a driver's license and the tricycle is being passed by a color room.
04:00 However, he can't file a case against him for stealing because there's no official complaint.
04:06 I was a bit conflicted because even though I was scammed, I felt sorry for him.
04:12 The next time I go to Manila will be December.
04:15 I will go to the police who messaged me on SNIRT.
04:20 I will talk to them and decide what I will do.
