00:00 Hello, my name is Greg Wright, I'm the Deputy Business Editor of the Yorkshire Post, and
00:05 here are your business headlines for this morning. Lloyd's Banking Group is shutting
00:10 another 45 branches across its network and the Halifax and Bank of Scotland brands amid
00:16 the ongoing shift away from high street banking. The group is closing 22 Halifax branches,
00:22 19 Lloyd's branches and four in the Bank of Scotland business. It comes a week after NatWest
00:27 Group said it plans to shut another 19 branches, mostly in the early part of next year. The
00:34 latest closures take the total number of high street branches shut across the sector to
00:38 623 so far this year. Lloyd's is said to close the bulk of the branches in March and April
00:45 next year, with some also closing in August and a tranche in November. It means that at
00:50 least 276 branches will be shut across Lloyd's, Halifax and Bank of Scotland this year and
00:57 next. There's been a massive exodus of branches from the high street in recent years and many
01:02 people will be concerned about the continuing closure of branches and the impact on customer
01:07 service among customers who still value face-to-face service. So an announcement this morning that
01:14 Lloyd's Banking Group is shutting another 45 branches across its network and the Halifax
01:19 and Bank of Scotland brands amid the ongoing shift away from high street banking. My name
01:25 is Greg Wright and I'm the Deputy Business Editor of the Yorkshire Post.
