00:00 How did I feel?
00:01 You know, I felt so honored.
00:04 I still feel honored and humbled and it's exciting,
00:08 it's thrilling, it's also highly terrifying.
00:12 You know, I don't think any person sitting
00:15 in this particular chair, even if it wasn't me,
00:17 I don't think they would be like, yeah, I'm totally fine.
00:20 There's a sensible amount of pressure
00:23 because, you know, I was a Disney kid growing up.
00:26 I loved Disney, I loved Disney animation.
00:29 And in my adulthood, I've become a real fan
00:31 of the art of animation.
00:34 And so, like I said, it's an honor to lend my voice
00:39 to this character who is beautifully brown
00:41 with braids and freckles that is kind of helping
00:45 to usher us into a new chapter of the Disney legacy
00:50 and bringing an entire Disney magic
00:52 that is all her own into the fold.
00:54 - Tell me a little bit about who Asha is
00:59 and kind of her goal, her greatest goal when we meet Asha.
01:02 - Well, Asha is a, let's say a quick-witted, but quirky,
01:07 I call her a little queen,
01:10 even though she doesn't know it yet.
01:12 But she's a wonderful human who loves the town she lives in.
01:17 She lives in the magical kingdom of Rosas.
01:19 And when you meet her, she's a tour guide.
01:23 So she's bringing all that beautiful, beautiful energy.
01:25 But ultimately, she discovers a truth
01:30 about Rosas and about King Magnifico.
01:34 And she goes to one of her favorite places in the world
01:38 and she makes a powerful wish,
01:40 even though unbeknownst to her,
01:42 she's not clear about what she's doing.
01:44 But she makes a powerful wish
01:45 and calls down the wishing star.
01:49 And with Star's help, 'cause Star is its own thing,
01:54 goes on this journey and ultimately
01:57 is trying to fulfill this wish that everyone in her town,
02:02 in her community, can, will have more
02:08 than what they have now.
02:10 That they can reserve the right
02:12 to hopefully make their own wishes come true.
02:16 And I think that's really cool.
02:18 - What do you think makes this film so special?
02:23 - You know, I think part of what makes Wish so special
02:28 is that it's this beautiful way
02:30 of celebrating the roots of Disney classics.
02:35 And also a way of, you know, launching us into the future.
02:39 You have to be able to appreciate and celebrate
02:41 where you've come from to be able
02:45 to fully appreciate where you're going, right?
02:47 I think this film does that beautifully.
02:50 It's an all new original musical comedy
02:53 with seven beautiful new songs
02:56 written by Julia Michaels and Benjamin Ries.
02:59 It's, you know, brought to you by the makers of Frozen.
03:02 It has literally every element of a true new Disney classic.
03:06 It's like putting all the ingredients in a bowl,
03:09 mixing them up, and you get Wish.
03:12 And I really feel like audiences,
03:15 it doesn't matter who you are,
03:15 there's something for everyone.
03:17 You can truly see yourself in this film.
03:20 Whether you see yourself in Asha
03:22 or any one of the townspeople,
03:24 or Sabo Subito, or even King Magnifico.
03:27 Like there are elements of this
03:29 that I think will be inspiring and heartening
03:33 to so many people out there.
