An episode from the anthology series Storyboard from 1989. Aeneas Sampson, who runs an insurance agency in Victorian England, becomes suspicious when the seemingly genial Julius Skipton enters his office one day wishing to insure his young niece's life. They have recently suffered a bereavement with the sudden death of the niece's sister, which has hit the young niece's health hard. But something begins to worry Sampson about the man's demeanour, and decides to investigate further. But is all as it seems, and will he be in time to prevent another death?
Starring Alec McCowan, Stephen Moore, Polly Walker, Nicholas Gecks, Clive Swift, John Southworth, Richard Beale, Maggie McCarthy, Philip Dunbar, Jo Abercrombie and Jim Holmes. This period mystery was written by Charles Dickens, and was originally broadcast on May 30th 1989. It has a debut screen appearance by Polly Walker in her first role, and a superb performance by Stephen Moore, who was seemingly adept at all manner of roles, but is especially compelling here. It's a rare programme indeed, not repeated since it's broadcast in 1989, so you have Mick's Nostalgia Channel to thank for this. Enjoy. (Please note, this is an old recording. This is how I found it, so there is little I can do about it).
