Brendan Gulick and Anthony Moeglin discuss whats next for Ohio State star Wide Receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. in this Buckeye Breakdown Clip.
Transcript
00:00 Marvin caught five passes for 118 and a touchdown,
00:03 nine targets his direction.
00:05 Julian Fleming caught all three balls thrown his way.
00:08 Cade Stover, three catches on six targets.
00:10 Emeka Ibuka, three catches on six targets.
00:13 Cade and Emeka combined for 67 yards receiving.
00:17 And of course, Emeka had the one touchdown.
00:20 All right, let's talk Marvin Harrison for a second.
00:24 Yeah.
00:25 There's a lot to talk about here.
00:28 I don't really want to entertain the thought,
00:30 and Marvin didn't give an immediate answer.
00:32 I mean, look, there seems to be an exceptionally small chance
00:39 that he returns next year.
00:41 And given that Ohio State, first of all,
00:43 they don't know if they're going to play in the playoff or not.
00:46 It's pretty darn unlikely.
00:48 And I think we kind of hit on that pregame.
00:50 The team that loses this game, probably treating this
00:52 like a national quarterfinal.
00:54 You're probably going to play a New Year's Six game,
00:56 and that'll be that.
00:58 I hate the thought of this, but did we just
01:00 see Marvin Harrison play his last football for Ohio State?
01:04 I think there's a decent chance that's true.
01:05 Yeah, and I think you could see it too.
01:07 At the end of the game, he was kind of overcome with emotion
01:11 while he was still in his uniform.
01:13 Sat down, and that's not somebody who's just angry
01:16 that they lost.
01:17 It was a very kind of a telling thing.
01:20 And it stinks, because he's an unbelievable--
01:23 he's one of the best receivers you're ever going to see.
01:26 He's got everything you want.
01:27 He's got the size.
01:28 He's got the speed and the strength.
01:29 And he just-- the amazing part is he catches everything.
01:32 And it's almost a joke now, where it's like,
01:34 throw it in his direction.
01:35 Marvin's coming down with it.
01:36 And he just does.
01:38 Like that catch you just described early,
01:40 the ball was a little bit inside.
01:41 He got his arm pinned down.
01:42 It doesn't matter.
01:43 I can just use my right arm and make the catch,
01:45 while getting past interfered.
01:46 Just so special, and it was fun to just watch him.
01:48 And you hope he's coming back, but you also understand,
01:52 if you're the number two overall pick, that's a lot of money.
01:54 Well, I mean, I would say the only thing that prevents me
01:57 from just jumping on and saying, thank you so long.
02:01 Go Bucs forever, Marvin.
02:04 The NIL era has changed a lot of things.
02:06 And maybe there's an outside chance that some way,
02:11 somehow, he could still return.
02:13 I just personally find that extremely unlikely.
02:19 He is unquestionably one of the all-time great Ohio State
02:21 wide receivers.
02:22 Much like CJ Stroud, who is one of the all-time great Ohio
02:30 State quarterbacks.
02:31 I think he's probably on the Mount Rushmore of Ohio State
02:33 quarterbacks.
02:36 Marvin probably leaves Ohio State here.
02:38 And probably, assuming he leaves Ohio State,
02:45 he walks away having never beaten Michigan.
02:46 And that's going to be the case for this senior class,
02:50 after not having the game in 2020
02:53 and losing each of the last three years.
02:56 It's a pretty tough thing that these guys are walking away
