00:04 As Northumbria police took part in Operation Scepter, 142 arrests were made, with 121 items
00:11 recovered and almost 500 children have been educated on the devastation of knife crime.
00:16 During the week of focused activity, officers were aiming to tackle serious violence and
00:20 take weapons off the street.
00:23 And nightly unwanted sharp items were surrendered at a number of police stations.
00:27 Gateshead Council have announced plans to cut spending again next year.
00:31 Residents could also see a hike in council tax next year to help improve the deficit,
00:36 whilst the council seek out if they can find ways to deliver cheaper social care packages.
00:41 And finally, the People's Kitchen in Newcastle are gearing up for their Christmas season
00:45 as they help people in the city.
00:47 They've launched their Feed a Friend for a Fiver campaign again and will be helping their
00:51 friends with food and gifts this Christmas.
