Transcript
00:00 >> The questions for Caleb.
00:02 >> Caleb, it's kind of been a dream season for you, man.
00:06 I mean, obviously you haven't gotten the wins that you wanted, but
00:10 to be able to get to TCU and now to start and make a difference like this.
00:13 What's it felt like?
00:14 >> It's kind of like an indescribable feeling cuz, I mean,
00:19 just being able to run out of the tunnel either home or away on game day is just so
00:25 real just looking around and seeing all the fans.
00:29 >> Caleb, talk about the relationship you have with Jim Arthur McFarland.
00:33 >> He's like a part of the family to me cuz I think I've known him for
00:37 like six years now.
00:39 So his son and his daughter, I see as like little nieces and nephews.
00:45 It's just a real close bond with him and his entire family.
00:49 >> Historically, Oklahoma's known for having good offensive line.
00:52 What are you seeing from this year's group?
00:53 >> There's a real physical offensive line.
00:56 They're not gonna do a lot of stuff wrong.
00:58 And they like to, it's not more of like run people off the ball, but
01:01 like absorb your strike and just get you out of where you're supposed to be.
01:05 >> Caleb, what clicked for you last week against Baylor?
01:08 I think you had a season on five tackles.
01:11 What helped you out in that game?
01:13 >> More just like watching film and
01:16 trying to just get some tells of like what type of plays were coming.
01:19 Like see if it was a stretch away from me and
01:22 the offensive linemen would lean a certain way or
01:24 if they were widening gaps or something like that.
01:27 >> Was playing at a power five always a goal?
01:31 >> Yes.
01:32 And in high school, I've talked to a couple in high school, but
01:37 when I never got one in high school, I just, I didn't let that really sit on me.
01:41 I just kinda used it as motivation when I did get to my first school.
01:44 So then whenever I got the opportunity to come here, I jumped on it right away.
01:48 >> What do you major in?
01:50 What do you wanna do after this?
01:51 >> I major in criminal justice and I'm minoring in speech communications.
01:55 So I mean, I find criminal justice stuff interesting.
01:59 I'm always watching First 48 with my mom and stuff like that.
02:02 Criminal Minds is a good one.
02:05 But I mean, a defense attorney, probably.
02:09 I'm pretty interested in law and how everything works in the country.
02:14 >> Okay, we talked to coach about the defense and
02:20 the defensive line has been brought up a couple times with the experience and
02:23 just maybe being a younger group overall.
02:26 Do you guys kinda use that as motivation maybe to prove some doubters wrong that
02:30 you guys do have a good group among you guys?
02:32 >> Yeah, for sure.
02:34 I think we have a lot of depth right now and
02:37 just some of the young guys that we have, like the freshmen,
02:41 we're seeing improvement every day from them.
02:44 And whenever they do get into the games and make something happen,
02:46 we're all excited.
02:48 But I mean, I feel like the defensive line has played really well this season,
02:52 just all around the board from me, Mike, Paul, Ty and Dom.
02:57 Tico when he gets in, Rip when he gets in.
03:00 Even Marcus had a set this season, which we all got hyped for that one.

03:09 >> Anything else for Caleb?
03:10 [BLANK_AUDIO]
03:12 >> Caleb, does your family see much that you come up?
03:15 >> They do when they can.
03:17 My mom started a new job, so she's doing a lot of stuff with that.
03:20 My brother just started college this year.
03:23 So- >> Where's he?
03:25 >> He's at a community college back in Houston.
03:27 And then my youngest brother is a sophomore now in high school, so
03:31 there's a lot going on there.
03:33 So, I mean, I'm always excited whenever they get a chance to come, but
03:36 they don't get a chance to come all the time.
03:38 >> What's your favorite thing about Thanksgiving?
03:39 >> Really just being with friends and family,
03:43 because that's a real strong thing to me.
03:46 Cuz no matter what happens in my life,
03:49 I feel like I can always turn back to friends and family specifically.
03:52 So just being able to, we're gonna have a lunch with the team,
03:56 just being able to do that, get closer with some of the guys.
03:59 And talk to some people maybe I don't always talk to, like quarterbacks and
04:03 stuff, just offensive players.
04:05 It's just gonna be a fun time.
04:07 >> What's your go-to for Thanksgiving meal?
04:09 >> Gosh, fried turkey for sure.
04:14 Mashed potatoes with the brown gravy on the mashed potatoes.
04:17 And then mac and cheese, but it has to be really cheesy mac and cheese.
04:23 And then a lot of people don't like pumpkin pie, but it's number one for sure.
04:29 >> Yeah.
04:30 >> Thanks, Caleb.
04:33 >> Thanks, Caleb.
04:34 >> Well, Coach Dykston next.
