The 2x Chicago Bulls All-Star may be on the move, but should the Utah Jazz be the ones to take him on?

00:00 James saying, "Unless we get Levine
00:01 for an insanely cheap price, hard pass."
00:05 Yeah, so I think if the Jazz were to make a deal for Levine,
00:09 I think the framework would look a little bit like this.
00:10 You have, the biggest thing with a deal like this
00:13 is you have to match the contracts, right?
00:16 It's monetary type of stuff, it's a business.
00:18 And Levine's making $45 million,
00:20 and that makes it a little bit tougher to make a deal,
00:22 especially in the season.
00:23 But the Jazz do kind of have the contracts
00:27 to match up with it.
00:28 It would look a little bit like Sexton, Olenek, THT,
00:32 and probably, you probably have to throw
00:33 in a first round pick in there.
00:34 Let's say if you had the option to trade Zach Levine,
00:37 or trade for Zach Levine, bring him on the Jazz,
00:39 but it costs Colin Sexton, Kelly Olenek, and THT.
00:42 That adds up to about exactly what his contract value is,
00:45 and you have to probably throw in a first round pick
00:47 to really make it worth Chicago's time.
00:49 Is that a deal you do?
00:51 I don't, like, I think for that type of price,
00:53 you're getting up two expirings,
00:54 and that player in Sexton,
00:57 that he's on for a longer term, and you know what he brings,
00:59 but that's not the worst type of package.
01:01 So I think for an insanely cheap price,
01:03 this would be a pretty cheap price, I think.
01:05 I wouldn't hate that, but again,
01:08 if the thing, contractually, it kind of puts you in a bind.
01:10 You have $40 million tied up to Levine
01:12 for the next four years, or three, four years.
01:15 And then you're kind of giving up some cap space
01:18 and some ability to really have flexibility,
01:20 maybe keep lowering market in the longterm,
01:22 and you are probably giving up a first round pick
01:24 in that type of deal too.
01:25 So I don't know if I'm pulling the trigger on that.
01:28 I don't think it's the worst,
01:30 but I think at that point,
01:31 you kind of just roll with what you have,
01:34 and you keep what you have going
01:36 with Jordan Clarkson and Keonta George.
01:37 It looks like things have gone really,
01:40 really well at that point.
01:41 I think you just kind of wait, be patient,
01:45 and you stick with that.
