00:00 "Stars shining bright above you."
00:04 "Really? Seriously? More singing?"
00:06 Welcome to Ms. Mojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the best songs featured in
00:11 the Trolls movies. For this list, we'll be ranking the musical moments more so than the songs
00:16 themselves. Also, at the time of writing, only the first two movies have been released,
00:21 so we won't be able to discuss Trolls Band together.
00:24 "Just let me take you to a better place."
00:29 10. Get Back Up Again - Trolls
00:32 Pretty early on in the first Trolls movie, we learn just how self-motivated Poppy is.
00:37 If there's any character with a can-do attitude, it's her.
00:41 "Get back up again" is a good reminder that positivity is a choice,
00:49 and it takes effort to summon courage and confidence. When everything goes off the
00:53 rails, it's Poppy who puts on her big girl hair and sets off to try and save everyone.
00:58 "I really hope I can do it, 'cause they're all depending on me."
01:03 This is a perfect song to put on when you're feeling a little discouraged,
01:08 and it gets bonus points for being an original.
01:10 "Just riding on a rainbow, I'm gonna be okay. Hey, I'm not giving up today."
01:19 9. Crazy Train - Trolls World Tour
01:22 Rock fans unite. Although our first meeting with Queen Barb and, by extension, Rock,
01:27 comes at the price of interrupting the techno party, which, by the way,
01:31 goes hard, there's still so much to love about the introduction.
01:34 "We're gonna celebrate it, oh yeah, all right, stop the dancing."
01:40 It's the first taste we get for the genre, only to have it get even better with Crazy Train
01:46 and Barracuda later on. Rachel Bloom was perfectly cast as Barb, both in her speaking voice and her
01:52 phenomenal renditions of rock classics. "You had me down, down, down, down."
01:57 "Down on my knees."
02:00 Every movie needs a good villain, but how many have musical numbers this good?
02:04 "Crazy, that's how it goes."
02:09 8. The Sound of Silence - Trolls
02:12 "Hello darkness, my old friend."
02:19 While the internet has claimed this one as a bit of a meme song,
02:24 it's hard to deny how pretty it is in this movie. Anna Kendrick provides a delicate rendition with
02:29 soft strumming and beautiful clarity. We also get some nice backup vocals,
02:33 which go hand-in-hand with fun, colorful visuals.
02:35 "While I was sleeping, in the vision that was planted in my brain."
02:46 "Still in my dreams."
02:49 Seriously, Branch is getting a whole free concert here. It doesn't last too long
02:54 admittedly, courtesy of the more cynical Troll. "May I?"
02:57 But it's a sweet little number that works to slowly help build up both Poppy and
03:07 Branch's characters, and the relationship they haven't yet formed.
03:11 7. Born to Die - Trolls World Tour
03:14 "Yeah, it is sad. But life is sad sometimes, so I kinda like it."
03:22 Despite Delta Dawn calling Poppy, Branch, and Biggie's medley a crime against music,
03:27 there's something to be said about the pure, concentrated cheer that takes place here.
03:31 "Yo, I'll tell you what I want, what I really, really want."
03:33 "So tell me what you want, what you really, really want."
03:35 Party songs are always a good time, and though this was probably not the right time for them,
03:40 you can't deny the immaculate vibes. Aside from that, Born to Die just hits something deep in
03:45 the soul. Not only does its message hit a little too close to home in our current economic climate,
03:50 but Kelly Clarkson absolutely knocks it out of the park.
03:54 6. Trolls Wanna Have Good Times - Trolls World Tour
04:19 This is such a fun song on its own that it feels impossible not to like.
04:23 The clever lyric changes, however, make it even more enjoyable.
04:27 After being away from Poppy, Branch, and Troll Village for the few years in between the two movie
04:44 releases, it's a super fun way to bring us back into their world. While Poppy is busy bouncing
04:49 around all over the place and being queen, Branch's verse slows things down, and we discover that yes,
04:55 it's true. He's majorly crushing. And like every duet between Justin Timberlake and Anna Kendrick,
05:07 we get some great harmonizing too.
05:17 5. Just Sing - Trolls World Tour
05:20 The climactic scene of the second movie mirrors that of the first beautifully. This time,
05:30 it's not just Poppy and her circle who lose their colors, it's all the trolls. With the
05:35 help of Cooper and everyone else, Poppy begins to sing, and she and Branch are the first to
05:39 regain their colors. It's a nice callback to the first movie, and a great ensemble number.
05:53 Plus, we get to hear all of the different genres, and they get their moment to shine,
05:58 which is not only musically pleasing, but really brings home the message of the story.
06:02 4. It's All Love - Trolls World Tour
06:31 Okay, go off trolls. Give us that history lesson. And one catchy history lesson at that.
06:37 From the moment Cooper's brother, Prince D, tells us the winners are the ones who get to
06:53 write history, we know we're about to hear some devastating truth. It's awesome to hear some more
07:06 diverse music populate the Trolls franchise, and It's All Love is an absolute banger. Not only does
07:11 this allude to themes of race, diversity, white supremacy, and music theft, but we also get to see
07:17 unraveling of misguided beliefs Poppy once held. It's a pivotal moment in terms of the plot,
07:32 but we bet it inspired lots of important conversations at home too.
07:36 3. Perfect For Me - Trolls World Tour
07:44 Call us suckers for romance, but we just adore a good love ballad. We've seen Poppy and Branch
07:49 fight before, mostly when they were still getting to know each other, but this one felt different.
07:54 They obviously said things they didn't mean, and we're sure Branch's confession came out not at all
07:58 how he would have liked it to. Love is complicated, and no one knows that better than pairings who are
08:10 near opposites. Still, this song is absolutely stunning, and when it turns into a duet,
08:15 we're completely whisked away.
08:33 2. Can't Stop The Feeling - Trolls This was the perfect song to close out the
08:48 first movie. It's good vibes all around, which is exactly what the Bergens were in need of. Plus,
08:54 it brings a happy end to a journey that was kind of all about finding the feeling in the first
08:58 place. "Happiness isn't something you put inside, it's already there. Sometimes you just need
09:05 someone to help you find it." "Can't Stop The Feeling" is a whole bop from Timberlake alone,
09:10 and the perfect pick-me-up too. But having vocals from Anna Kendrick just elevates it to something
09:15 that much sunnier. There are a lot of songs that make us want to dance in the
09:28 middle of the movie theater, but this is probably the one to do it the quickest.
09:33 Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions.
09:36 Move Your Feet - D.A.N.C.E. It's a sunshine day. Trolls.
09:42 Nothing like a mashup to start out strong.
09:44 Everybody, move your hair and feel united. Everybody, shake your hair and feel united.
09:57 Hello, trolls. Zooey Deschanel makes us feel for Bridget.
10:04 I've been alone with you inside my mind. And in my dreams I've kissed your lips
10:15 a thousand times. I Fall To Pieces - Trolls World Tour.
10:22 Sung by Sam Rockwell, this is a sweet moment that takes time to acknowledge Branch's feelings.
10:28 Fall to pieces, pieces. How can I forget you? Yes, your friend. Yes, your friend.
10:43 I'm Coming Out - Mo Money, Mo Problems. Trolls. Bridget's confidence boost is everything.
10:52 I'm coming out like the sun after rain. Ready to show you, no time to be in flames.
10:57 Feeling good, gonna get, get what I, what I want. Gonna show everybody how I, how I'm bomb.
11:01 Look at me now, my confidence is soaring. Dudes be impressed with the points I'm scoring like,
11:06 "That ain't boring."
11:06 They Don't Know - Trolls. Can this play on our next first date?
11:10 I woke up without the sunlight. Ain't got time to listen to any shade. Yeah.

11:33 Number 1. True Colors - Trolls. Is there a moment that will ever be more significant
11:40 in this franchise? You with the sad eyes, don't be discouraged.
11:50 Not only is all hope lost by this point, but Poppy, the one troll we never thought would go grey,
11:56 does. And it's Branch, who's refused to see the bright side and refused to sing the entire journey,
12:02 who finally steps up to the plate. True Colors, while a bit on the nose,
12:05 is the exact song we'd expect to hear in this scene.
12:09 And I see your true colors shining through.
12:15 It's the ideal compliment to the trolls regaining their colors, and symbolically,
12:19 their joy. It also acts as a pivotal change in Branch and Poppy's relationship.
12:24 That's why I love you.
12:26 Do you consider yourself more of a Poppy or a Branch? Let us know in the comments.
12:34 Oh, oh, I love high fives. I'll do it.
12:36 Oh, I know you'll do it. But will he?
12:39 Alright, dumpy diapers, up high.
12:42 Nope, I don't do high fives.
