00:00 Wilson Cruz, popular actor from a series like 13 Reasons Why and other titles, spoke to
00:04 What's Trending claiming that the strike took way too long.
00:06 The prominent actor has been very vocal about the situation on social media and is not backing
00:10 down on his stance.
00:11 In a conversation, Wilson Cruz emphasized that the strike took longer than it needed
00:19 to get a point across.
00:20 The Noah's Ark alum has been striking with fellow actors in New York City and is one
00:24 of many who are eagerly waiting to hear the member voting results soon.
00:27 It's Anil Awani reporting.
00:28 At the Out100 carpet in Los Angeles, Cruz spoke to What's Trending claiming the length
00:32 of time it's taken studio executives to come to a clear decision has left many without
00:36 work and struggling to make ends meet.
00:38 In addition, the actor mentioned that the situation never should have happened in the
00:41 first place.
00:42 You're very vocal about a lot of issues on your socials.
00:44 Obviously, the strike is something that is very fresh.
00:47 How do you feel about it potentially being over in this moment?
00:51 I'm ready to go back to work.
00:53 The blast radius of this strike was enormous.
00:57 There's a lot of people who were affected by the strike that were not actors.
01:02 You know, the dry cleaners, the restaurants, the crew members, the publicists.
01:09 What would we do without them?
01:10 There's a lot of people who were affected who supported us.
01:13 And so I'm glad to know that they're going back to work and I'm really grateful for all
01:16 of their support.
01:18 It's time and we're going to come back in three years and we'll build on this.
01:21 Aside from the support from people with and outside the entertainment industry, Cruz also
01:25 reflected on how long the strike truly took and what could have been done to avoid this
01:29 entire situation.
01:30 Do you think it should have taken as long as it did?
01:33 No, absolutely.
01:34 I mean, this could have been done the next day.
01:38 Those media companies lost hundreds of millions of dollars.
01:43 For what?
01:45 When they could have used all of those hundreds of millions of dollars that they lost to actually
01:49 give us what we asked for.
01:51 Cruz's breakout role came from ABC's 1994 series titled My So-Called Life.
01:55 The actor has been very forward facing on picket lines throughout the strike and has
01:58 even shared all of his experience on social media.
02:00 As of late, Cruz's downtime on screen comes as he stepped into a new role at GLSEN, which
02:05 provides programs and resources to transform K-12 educational systems on local and national
02:10 levels for LGBTQ+ students.
02:12 The package as of now is valued at more than $1 billion in new wages and benefit plan funding.
02:17 More compensation information from the deal from the Alliance of Motion Pictures and Television
02:20 Producers came several hours after the SAG-AFTRA National Board voted 86% to approve it.
02:26 The 80-page summary of the full agreement has not been public, but it will go to eligible
02:30 members of the Guild on November 13.
02:32 Ratification voting on the agreement starts November 14 and runs until the first week
02:36 of December for the nearly 160,000 members of the Guild.
