How Can Georgia Tech Beat Clemson?
Transcript
00:00 So how can Georgia Tech beat Clemson?
00:04 Well, I think it's gonna come down to three things.
00:05 One, the turnover battle.
00:07 I think Georgia Tech is 32nd in turnover margin this year.
00:10 They're 21st in interception.
00:12 And guess who is 107th in turnovers lost this year?
00:15 That would be Clemson.
00:16 Whether it's fumbles, interceptions, the team turns the ball over,
00:20 especially in the red zone.
00:22 That's one of the things that Georgia Tech's gonna have to do.
00:23 They're gonna have to get turnovers and
00:25 they're gonna have to get red zone stops,
00:26 whether that is just holding them to a field goal.
00:29 Turnovers, whatever have you, they have to get stops in the red zone to keep their
00:32 offense from scoring enough points.
00:35 Because I do think Georgia Tech's defensive numbers are not good, and
00:39 I do think Clemson is gonna score some in this game.
00:41 But you have to limit the amount that they're doing in the red zone, and
00:45 you have to gain extra possessions.
00:46 Georgia Tech's offense is explosives.
00:48 Gaining extra possessions is gonna be super key in this game.
00:52 Number two is stopping the run.
00:54 We say this, or I'll say limiting the run.
00:57 Georgia Tech has a bottom ten run defense in the country, but
01:01 they have to be able to limit whatever Phil Moffa or Will Shipley do.
01:04 I know Davos, when he said Will Shipley is supposed to be back this week,
01:07 he's a good player, he also catches passes.
01:10 But I do think Moffa's the more physical runner and
01:12 is the one that can probably change his game a little bit more.
01:15 And Georgia Tech has had trouble with rushing attacks like that and
01:18 running backs like that.
01:19 They've had trouble with a lot, but
01:21 they have to be able to limit the running game and not let big runs off.
01:24 Moffa had a couple of really big carries against Notre Dame last week,
01:27 who is a very, very good run defense.
01:29 They're a lot better than Georgia Tech.
01:31 So tackling, limiting the explosive carries, not letting them rip off 15,
01:36 20 yard runs, and that kind of thing.
01:39 They did a good job against Virginia last week, but
01:41 Virginia is one of the worst rushing attacks in the country.
01:44 So being able to stop the run is gonna be key.
01:47 Number three for me, it's creating explosive plays.
01:50 On a down to down basis,
01:51 moving the ball against Clemson's defense is gonna be super tough.
01:55 Because of the NFL talent they have on their front seven, like Jeremiah Trotter,
01:59 Barrett Carter, those guys are gonna play in the NFL and
02:01 probably play really well at the next level.
02:03 Georgia Tech has players that can create explosiveness, Jamal Haynes,
02:07 Eric Singleton, Malik Rutherford.
02:08 They can create explosive plays down the field and they're going to have to.
02:13 Haynes King, he can also get it done with his legs.
02:16 I think that's gonna be a big key to this game as well.
02:18 On the offensive line, it's one of the best in the country at protecting
02:22 the quarterback and not letting him get sacked.
02:25 They have the second ranked rushing attack in the ACC.
02:27 So creating explosive plays on offense, limiting the Clemson ground game,
02:33 creating turnovers and getting red zone stops.
02:35 They do all those three things well.
02:37 I think Georgia Tech can get their first win against Clemson since 2014 and
02:41 their first win in Death Valley since 2008.
