00:00 We're out here in the desert about an hour south of Las Vegas because SVT wants to show
00:09 us their newest offering and that's the Ford SVT Raptor F150.
00:14 Dirt, dust, deep sand, all of this is what this vehicle eats for lunch.

00:47 Ford SVT invited us out here in the desert to give us an engineering and design background
00:52 to this vehicle, essentially taking a select group of journalists and giving us a deep
00:57 dive into all the changes this vehicle has to it.
01:00 They also brought out some professional drivers that took us out on a drive route that essentially
01:05 duplicates the Baja 1000 race course.
01:08 Some of you might wonder what the difference is between the SVT Raptor and a stock F150
01:14 and the reality is there's a lot different between the two.
01:17 You can see just visually this is a 7 inches wider truck, new fenders on both sides, a
01:23 brand new hood.
01:24 In fact, everything from the A pillar forward design wise is completely different.
01:29 The bed outers are also completely different.
01:32 Wheel wells much wider to handle the 35 inch BFG all terrain tires.
01:38 Also underneath the suspension, front suspension and rear suspension significantly upgraded
01:44 to deal with the bigger horsepower needs that the brand new 6.2 liter V8 that's going to
01:49 come out winter of 2009 when that makes it into this vehicle.
01:53 The front suspension, completely heavy duty eyes, rear suspension, different leaf springs
01:59 and the most significant change, about a 7 or 8 thousand dollars worth of shock absorbers
02:05 are underneath this vehicle in order to deal with the high speed desert racing personality
02:10 that this vehicle has that no other truck in its segment offers.
