Accumulating snow is in the forecast for Denver this week just days after temperature broke daily records in the city.
Transcript
00:00 Well, what is the next 24 hours in Denver?
00:03 Let's begin with today where we're looking at sunshine 76 degrees record high today,
00:08 by the way, is 78 set in 1999, but a big change on the way.
00:13 Let me take you into California here as we're watching this system coming into California
00:19 as we speak.
00:20 There it is.
00:21 Some thunder and lightning with that this morning.
00:22 So this is going to round the bend, go south of Denver as we head toward later tomorrow
00:27 and in the Thursday morning and with that bringing a huge change in the temperatures.
00:32 Look at this 76 here today, but then we're going to be dropping into the 40s on Wednesday.
00:37 Now we will rebound to around 50 degrees as we head into Thursday afternoon, but there's
00:42 a period in here late Wednesday, Wednesday night where it's going to be cold enough to
00:47 snow as that storm moves off to the south of Denver.
00:50 I don't think it's going to be a lot in the metro area, maybe a coating to an inch or
00:54 so, but you start getting into the foothills.
00:56 You're going to be picking up at least a few inches of snow and certainly in the higher
01:00 terrain off to the west, we'll pick up about six to 12 inches of snow with an Accuweather
01:05 local storm max of 18 inches.
01:06 And by the way, ski resorts, some of them opening up, they'll love the snow at least
01:12 a few inches in the higher terrain.
