Robert Watts is the man behind the Sunday Times Rich list and has most recently compiled a Yorkshire Rich list for the Yorkshire Business Insider. So, how do the millionaires and billionaires of the dales stack up against those across the rest of the country? Here’s more on the story.

According to the Yorkshire Rich List, the richest man in Yorkshire is kitchen tycoon Malcolm Healey, owner of the popular Wren kitchens, which had a reported turn over of just over one billion pounds last year.

New on the list this year are John Whittaker and family, who are responsible for environmentally sustainable cardboard boxes, with profits hitting twelve point seven million last year. So how do these figures compare to the rest of the country? Well, in the North West Mohsin and Zuba Issa who operate in the petrol station sector are worth over five billion pounds.

In the North East, well it may come as no surprise that the new owners of Newcastle United are the wealthiest people in the region. And in the West Midlands the family raking in some serious cash are the Coates family who founded Bet365.
