00:00 everybody's right. Running back Jamal Haynes and we'll open it up for questions.
00:03 Haynes, do you recall what Coach Linkic said to you guys before the game?
00:08 Do your job. I was asking for the specific quote, but we can talk about it off camera.
00:14 Did you get a different sense of the mindset of the team today coming out and dominating?
00:19 Was there anything different coming into it? Mainly just bring your own energy.
00:24 You create your own energy, especially on away games. You have energy from within.
00:32 You're not worried about all the other stuff like hey this and that.
00:35 Outside of who we are, outside of this program, it wouldn't bother you.
00:42 So it was big emphasis coming into today on creating your own energy.
00:48 Getting everybody up, just creating your own energy and keeping the energy.
00:53 Which of you two is the more loose runner?
01:00 I can toe the rock for sure.
01:06 How much has it changed the offense in the OPL?
01:15 When you have the balance now with the running game, getting down the hill,
01:19 being able to hit some explosives in the running game, how much has that changed?
01:22 It just helps you out. Not lenient.
01:29 Like hey, run, stop, and move. We've got to pass, move.
01:32 Hey, stop and pass, then we've got to run.
01:34 When you have both, it keeps the defense guessing.
01:37 Other than that, that's what it is. Once you have everything, the dudes that we have everywhere,
01:45 just get the ball to them. That's my job.
01:48 Just get the ball to them, distribute the ball, let them make plays.
01:51 Even the piggyback off of Haynes, we all obviously complement each other.
01:58 From the receivers to the running backs to the tight ends, everybody can get the ball at any given play.
02:03 As long as they do their job, Haynes will deliver and we'll ride out far.
02:07 Were you a touchdown either of your touchdown runs?
02:09 Maybe one. I'm not sure. I had to go back and watch film.
02:15 I was just in the moment right there, trying to get a drive together and win the middle eight.
02:22 In the first four of the second half.
02:26 A game and then run.
02:30 Before the season, did you think the offense would be this dynamic?
02:34 Yeah. With what we do, it helps everything out.
02:42 Spitting on the perimeter, getting their defense running sideline to sideline.
02:46 Now we can run the ball, now they're tired. Now we want to pass the ball.
02:50 We're spitting the ball out on the perimeter, having them run like that.
02:54 Now we run it. One, the defense got off track. Two, it's tired.
03:00 Now we want to pass the ball. The pass rush is not all the way there.
03:06 Everything just compliments off of each other.
03:12 Who's going to be dying in that game?
03:16 The offensive line. You guys talk about what's happened over the last couple weeks with that group?
03:24 They're gritty. Hard work pays off. They're gritty.
03:30 The more games, the more experience, the more camaraderie there's going to be.
03:36 Being on the same page, communication. All of it is starting to fall into place.
03:40 How gritty they are is outstanding.
03:44 Did you have someone here today? Family, friends, and the fans?
03:46 Mom, dad, and cousin.
03:48 Has your dad been to a game this year yet?
03:50 Yeah. He was at Wake Forest. And Ole Miss. And Miami.
03:58 He's an A pretty much all over.
04:04 For both of you guys, just a quick look ahead. What do you think of this opportunity against Clemson?
04:10 This is a big opportunity. Yes, we just won two in a row, but I still feel like we can't be complacent.
04:16 We can't be settled with just winning two in a row. I feel like we still have to be hungry.
04:20 We still have to be humble. We still have to go into next week ready to work.
04:24 Honestly, go three in a row. That's the plan. That's always the plan.
04:28 Every game is an opportunity.
04:30 If you want to wrap this up? Sure.
04:34 I think both you and Dante scored on plays where you weren't necessarily trying to score.
04:38 Just trying to pick up a first down. Dante's case, he was just trying to set up a field goal.
04:42 Both broke off long runs. Just talk about finishing plays.
04:46 That's maybe the biggest difference you guys have been able to see.
04:50 First of all, I just want to shout out to Coach McKenzie and Coach Dev.
04:56 They really work us in practice on finishing those backside moves, getting through the line, and being able to make a move on the back end.
05:02 Just the way they push us throughout the whole entire practice.
05:06 We're always taught to finish through the end zone. We're always taught to finish through the last defender.
05:10 Just to take it back a little bit, big shout out to the O-line.
05:14 We've been really harping on the O-line to actually have that grit as Hanes talked about.
05:18 Just an all around effort, honestly. All around effort between me and Tae and complimenting each other.
05:24 Just great football that we put on out there, honestly.
05:28 - Awesome, gentlemen, thank you.
