00:00 Taylor Swift took the crown from Queen B as her blockbuster The Eras Tour earned her $305
00:06 million, more than double what Beyoncé took home for her record-breaking Renaissance tour.
00:13 Here are the top-earning summer concerts of 2023.
00:17 Number 7. Elton John
00:24 Having toured since the 1970s, the Rocket Man had his final splashdown in July. Since
00:30 2018, when Farewell Yellow Brick Road began, the 76-year-old John has played 330 shows
00:37 and worn some 16 Gucci outfits. John's last Glastonbury appearance in June
00:43 drew an A-list crowd, including Paul McCartney, Kate Hudson, Debbie Harry, Anya Taylor-Joy
00:49 and Lewis Hamilton.
00:52 Number 6. Harry Styles
00:58 Before music fans were coordinating themed outfits for the Eras and Renaissance tours,
01:03 they were buying groovy costumes and feather boas for Harry Styles' Love On Tour.
01:08 After kicking off in 2021, when it quickly became the most attended tour of the year,
01:13 Styles' love fest finally wrapped up in July. He spent most of 2023 playing to international
01:20 audiences, first in Oceania, then Asia, before wrapping up in Europe. It concluded with a
01:26 total gross of $617 million, having sold more than 5 million tickets across 169 shows.
01:35 Number 5. Pink
01:41 Only Pink could perform two tours at once while hanging upside down. In October, she
01:46 took a break from her summer carnival tour to start her 20-date Trust Fall tour shows.
01:51 For a musician who famously flies through the air and performs acrobatics during her
01:55 shows, Pink also shattered a glass ceiling this year. In August, she became the first
02:00 woman to headline a stadium concert in Wisconsin.
02:05 Number 4. Coldplay
02:10 For its Music of the Spheres World Tour, eco-conscious Coldplay kept the production as sustainable
02:16 as possible. The stage was built from reusable materials, the confetti was biodegradable,
02:22 and the LED wristbands given to fans were compostable.
02:27 Band members Chris Martin, Johnny Buckland, Guy Berryman and Will Champion visited 10
02:32 countries this summer in South America and Europe. After a stint in North America, the
02:37 band will head to Asia and return to Europe in 2024.
02:41 Number 3. Ed Sheeran
02:47 Fittingly, the 2023 leg of Ed Sheeran's mathematics tour did big numbers. His pared-down production
02:54 style and average ticket price of roughly $100 allowed the 32-year-old Sheeran to net
02:59 a greater portion of ticket sales compared to his superstar competitors.
03:04 Sheeran started the year in New Zealand before ending the tour in the US. Along the way,
03:09 he broke a record at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California, performing in front of
03:13 more than 77,000 fans.
03:17 Number 2. Beyonce
03:23 By the time the Renaissance tour wrapped up in early October, after stops in 12 countries,
03:28 it grossed $579 million, making it one of the highest-grossing tours in history.
03:35 For Beyonce's 42nd birthday show in Los Angeles in September, she asked concertgoers
03:40 to wear silver, and those in attendance, including Meghan Markle, Chris Rock, Jeff Bezos and
03:46 Tyler Perry, did as Queen B commanded.
03:50 Number 1. Taylor Swift
03:56 Taylor Swift may be doing a mini-tour of luxury boxes at Kansas City Chiefs games right now,
04:01 but for most of the year she was selling out stadiums.
04:05 An average ticket price of $253 and ticketmasters crashed during the sale didn't deter concertgoers.
04:13 She's played to more than 3 million adoring fans so far.
04:17 Some diehard Swifties also waited hours in line for the chance to purchase coveted $75
04:22 hoodies, though everyone knows there are plenty of free friendship bracelets to be traded
04:27 in the stands.
