00:06 Well, morning, I'm Liz and I'm from the Little Princess Trust. I've come up today to visit the wonderful team here at Poppies
00:13 to talk to them about the amazing wig fitting that they do on our behalf.
00:18 We all think of wigs and we think of the curly wigs that people wear on TV, but your wigs are special to everybody who gets them.
00:26 Does it take much to make them?
00:28 Oh gosh, yes. Our wigs are made from donated hair. So we have hair donated from all over the world to us and we then use that hair to make the wigs.
00:39 So we make different sizes, different colours, different lengths. Each one is then styled and fitted personally to that young person who comes through as a referral for us.
00:50 We offer wigs for people up to their 25th birthday for treatment, for cancer and also other medical hair loss.
00:59 And the little ones who get the wigs from you, what's their first reaction when they get them?
01:05 Oh gosh, as a wig fitter myself, it's just incredible. It's just incredible. Their little faces just light up.
01:14 It's such a positive experience for them in such a very dark time. It's priceless.
01:19 How important is it to continue to get donated hair?
01:22 Oh gosh, it's really important because it takes between 14 and 16 to 17, lots of hair to make one wig.
01:30 Oh wow. People don't understand that do they? They don't think about it until they need one.
01:35 And then it takes about 60 hours for one wig to be hand knotted. So the time scale is huge too.
01:44 What would be your message to anyone who's thinking of donating their hair?
01:48 Please, please grow your hair. We are really looking forward to receiving as long a hair as you can get.
01:55 Anything over 7 inches, the ideal for us would be 10, 12, 14, 16, that would be the best.
02:04 Yeah, send it to us please, that would be great. And if you could do any fundraising for us to help us make that wig, that would be amazing too.
