Transcript
00:00 Hello there, it's Martin Dempster, the Scotsman golf correspondent coming to you from Club
00:06 de Golf Alcanada in Mallorca where the Rolex Challenge Tour Grand Final supported by the
00:14 R&A takes place this week with 20 DP World Tour cards up for grabs. We've got two Scots
00:21 in the field, Ewan Walker from Ayrshire, he's sitting 20th in the standings going into this
00:28 event on the island of Mallorca, so he's on course to be on the DP World Tour next season.
00:35 The other player in the field is Peoples player Craig Howie, Craig's sitting 42nd so he needs
00:43 either a win or to finish second to get into that all-important top 20. The Challenge Tour
00:51 has been a happy hunting ground for the Scots over the past five, six, seven years. We've seen
00:56 Bob McIntyre, Grant Forrest, Connor Syme, Ewan Ferguson, David Law and also Callum Hill all make
01:04 that big step up onto the main tour which of course is where all the European and players
01:10 from South Africa want to be at the moment in terms of making progress in their career. I don't
01:16 know if you can hear but the trees around me are starting to really get a little bit lively,
01:22 the wind's starting to pick up. Tomorrow's first round, the tee times have been brought forward
01:29 due to the forecast we could have gusts of 35mph if not more as the day progresses so it's going
01:39 to be a test from the start and I think the conditions apparently they're going to be quite
01:44 tough all week but great event this, great feel about it and for the second year running it's
01:53 going to be televised live on Sky Sports. To keep up to date with all the news about the Scots and
01:59 the others vying to be on the DP World Tour next season keep in touch with Scotsman.com and also
02:06 by the Scotsman.
