00:00 All right, so good win, SEC win, get a 7-1,
00:04 a decelerator 19-2, last 21 home games, so that's pretty cool.
00:10 And we need to see our players come out, play with really good energy, and
00:14 all things early.
00:16 And because these are some kind of flat games, track games,
00:20 whatever you wanna call them, that opponent has not had a lot of success as of late.
00:24 So proud of that, really proud of our defense for the most part all day.
00:28 That offense was good early and installed, and
00:31 unfortunately didn't do a really good job in the pass game, third down areas.
00:38 And I thought we ran it really well.
00:39 I think the stats don't quite look as well with the sacks and
00:42 the fumble that went back behind Jackson, lost a lot of yards on him.
00:47 But I thought the running backs did a really good job,
00:50 coming away 7-3 and 6-0 for a carry between the two of them.
00:55 That's a good day, so I was pleased with that.
00:57 Just wish we'd have been a little cleaner in the passing game and protection.
01:02 >> Questions, move to start zone.
01:05 Start with Jake, you're in front.
01:06 [BLANK_AUDIO]
01:11 >> Blake, you Monday and your players and defense all week talked about the tight
01:16 draft of Wednesday evenings at a basketball test.
01:19 What does it say to the secondary to hold in 60 total yards in the passing game?
01:24 >> I think that's great, I mean, you guys have been there like me and
01:29 you've seen times where people, just like last year,
01:32 I didn't see these guys come in and throw the ball around on us and
01:36 a struggle in the secondary.
01:38 So I think it started up front, how well we played up front with the rushers,
01:43 the pressure on the sacks, and the coverage, it was a good day.
01:48 >> Questions?
01:55 >> Lane, five sacks today, three, at least three in every game this season.
02:01 Touched on it a little bit there, but I'm curious, what kind of impact,
02:04 looking at that from an offensive perspective,
02:06 what kind of impact does that have getting a quarterback that consistent?
02:10 >> It's great, I think too, I don't know exactly,
02:14 but I felt like they were big sacks.
02:17 Sometimes the guy scrambles and runs out of bounds, one yard short,
02:20 you need to credit for a sack.
02:23 So I thought they were significant yards and sacks, really good rushes.
02:27 So it's great to see what we're doing a lot of times this year, and
02:32 those guys have come together and played really well, very physical.
02:36 >> Dane Wade had a huge first half, I think he had a season high in yards overall,
02:42 had a nice catch on the sidelines.
02:43 What does he mean to this offense?
02:46 >> Just love the way he plays, I mean, the guy plays almost every snap.
02:49 And not the biggest guy, the way he tries to walk in there and
02:53 the effort that he plays with.
02:54 And he's just one of our favorite guys,
02:57 we always talk about the coaching one guys that play every snap like it's
03:01 the biggest snap, don't complain about things.
03:03 And so we're lucky to have a number of those guys.
03:08 >> Just staying on top of defense, Jared Ivey getting three sacks tonight.
03:11 Is this like to say this is one of the best games that he's had since he's been
03:14 here?
03:15 >> I mean, it seems that way obviously, I watched him go in court,
03:18 all the details of it, but statistically, yes.
03:21 And he seemed to really reinforce, made a big sack last week at the end too.
03:25 Beating the guard last week, got a huge sack, so he's done a really good job.
03:31 I think too, you gotta give Pete Goley a lot of credit for
03:37 his turnaround, he's an insane player.
03:40 And I think a lot of heat, LSU game, but I tried to say it,
03:44 they call it LSU does that to everybody.
03:48 So he's done a great job, he's paid off by heart,
03:52 good play and it's a matter of what he's used to doing.
03:56 >> Coach, the first half you guys did a pretty good job defensively and
04:01 as well you did most of the game.
04:04 But Vanderbilt moved the ball a little bit easier with Walt Taylor coming in
04:08 there in the second half, can you talk about that a little bit?
04:11 >> Yeah, I'm gonna tell you something, Coach, I just wanna tell you,
04:13 that first round I was like, who is this guy?
04:15 Did I sign like Cam Newton or something?
04:18 I was just getting at you who he was, so that's not very good of me not knowing,
04:22 but that's a big guy.
04:24 And so hard to bring down, physical downhill runner,
04:28 and obviously that wasn't really something we were preparing for a lot.
04:32 And I did a good job.
04:36 >> Lane, you started off this year 7-1, 7-1 last year.
04:39 Did you learn anything from last year that you kinda look back on to how you can
04:42 finish out the season?
04:44 >> Yeah, not let John report rumors of going somewhere else.
04:47 >> [LAUGH] >> I saw you waving your hand right before.
04:53 I've said before, I don't think we handled that very well.
04:56 I think that the Alabama loss, we let that keep beating us.
05:02 And chance in that to go to a limitation one or nine, one, whatever it was,
05:06 and then it kinda fell apart.
05:08 So two years ago we lost Alabama and played really well after.
05:12 And it seems to be that we're doing the same thing again this year.
05:14 And I think that says a lot about the players and
05:18 the resolve to overcome a really bad game.
05:21 >> A couple of us were talking and none of us can spot,
05:25 I see you on the sidelines and on the field.
05:28 Are we blind or is he, what's he not there tonight?
05:32 >> He was not and that is not medical, that's disciplinary.
05:34 So it's unfortunate.
05:37 >> Was that question on top?
05:40 >> The difference with Quinn Sean, at least numbers wise,
05:43 from the last four games compared to the first four.
05:45 I mean, in terms of yards, touchdowns, all that, taking a huge step up.
05:49 What do you think the difference has kind of been for him these last four games?
05:52 >> Well, I think it's a lot of things.
05:56 I think he's doing better, he's running harder.
05:59 I think the line is playing better and I think pre-scoring makes a big difference.
06:05 He kind of had specialty tight ends in his place during that and
06:08 trying to run some different things.
06:11 And he gives you a big physical tight end, so I think that's a big difference.
06:16 >> And you also mentioned that you hold this program to a very high standard.
06:20 You guys have been playing really good football these last four games.
06:23 I know that you gotta know what's ahead in terms of your goals and such.
06:28 Do you think kind of this team is playing kind of well enough at this point now to
06:32 potentially reach those standards that you kind of set this program to?
06:36 >> I just worry about each week.
06:38 I think it's a good thing that we have a standard around here that,
06:42 as you can probably tell, everyone in the SEC game by 26 points.
06:47 And it's in that, no disrespect, we did this a couple times a few of the years
06:52 before we got here, so in Florida last year.
06:56 So I think when you beat a team by 26 and
06:59 you're still kind of disappointing a lot, everybody has this good standard to have.
07:07 >> Any questions down below?
